Be the "I" in KIND

Look who was caught being KIND! Classmates wanted to recognize both Mia and Birdie for being friends who can always be counted on. They look out for others and are good friends to those around them! Simran helped to pick up novels in class. Mahaylah helped a classmate to carry a heavy project to class. It's small acts like these that make our school a great place!

Textbook Rental Reminder

Here is a reminder regarding the payment of textbook rental and course fees for the 2022-23 school year (this year). Please make sure that payment is mad ASAP to avoid being sent to collections. We do not control this process at the building level. Reach out to our school treasurer, Heather Donaldson, if you have questions (hdonaldson@mccsc.k12.in.us). She can provide another statement if yours was misplaced. You can pay the charge by check, cash or online. Checks should be made payable to Cascade Middle School (put your child's student number in the memo). If you have students in the same building payments can be combined, but if you have students in separate buildings, individual payments need to be made. A link was sent on or around 3/15 for online payment to the email address for each student's parent on file in PowerSchool. It says "Alio Fee Pay." This will take you to the Alio Fee Pay Activate Account screen where you can follow the prompts. The company does charge a processing/service fee. Be sure to check your spam/junk folders, as the email may have gone there. If you ask Mrs. Donaldson, she can resend the email. She also now has the ability to take credit card information over the phone if you prefer for her to do it for you. Thank you for attention in this matter. If nothing changes with state legislation over the summer, normal book rental invoices will begin again in September for next school year. Thanks for your attention in this matter!

For Coke Gives:

The Coke Gives program for schools is ending on June 30, 2023. Through entering these codes, found under Coke products bottle caps or cardboard flaps, Coke Gives donates the proceeds directly to the school.

Please send any remaining codes that you have to the school by this Wednesday, May 24th. After that time, you may enter your codes yourself online at https://us.coca-cola.com/give/schools/ until June 30, 2023.

No donations will be accepted next school year. Thank you to those that have participated over the years!

2023/24 School Year Registration Is Now Open!

All new and returning students to MCCSC will need to register for next school year. The window to begin registering your student via PowerSchool is now open. The registration button is on the corporation website at mccsc.k12.in.us. When you register your child for school, make sure that the contact page is updated to include all people that you would like to designate with school pick up powers. This includes yourself as the parent! Make sure that your phone numbers and email addresses provided to the school are current, so that everyone you want to designate is receiving the appropriate emergency phone calls and emails from admin.

Chrombeook Collection/Distribution Information

Here is information from our technology team regarding what each grade level of students at CMS should plan for in regard to their Chromebooks over the summer.

8th Graders: Students will keep their devices over the summer and should plan to bring them to 9th grade Freshman Cadet Kickoff to exchange them for brand new devices. All Freshman should start high school with a new device. ALL STICKERS NEED TO BE REMOVED prior to turning in their device. They need to make sure they have the Chromebook, charger and case returned in order to avoid a missing device, or missing periphery item claim. Students who do not attend Cadet Kickoff will swap their devices for a new one once school is underway.

7th and 6th Graders: Students will keep their devices over the summer and use them next school year.

5th Graders: Students will keep their devices over the summer and should plan to bring them to 6th grade Orientation to exchange them for brand new devices. All incoming 6th graders should start middle school with a new device. ALL STICKERS NEED TO BE REMOVED prior to turning in their device. They need to make sure they have the Chromebook, charger and case returned in order to avoid a missing device, or missing periphery item claim. Students who do not attend Orientation will swap their devices for a new one once school is underway.

The Google Voice number for the tech team will be active and monitored over the summer to help students with any issues. We will collect the device of any student that is 100% sure they are not returning next school year.

Updates from the Cafeteria

To deposit money into your child's lunch account electronically visit myschoolbucks.com to create an online account. Students can also bring in cash to lunch, but sometimes that money gets stuck in pockets instead of deposited with the cafeteria staff. Students may bring a lunch from home on any day they choose.
