A Message from Mrs. Fantaskey

Planning for 2022-2023 - Parent Input Survey for Class Placements

Dear Doyle Parents,

The purpose of this communication is to help you understand the process we use at Doyle Elementary School for deciding your child’s placement for the next school year. This is an important and complex task. Our professional staff considers many factors and gathers as much information as possible on each child so that we can create well-balanced and productive learning groups in each classroom. In creating our class rosters, we consider many factors including gender ratio, academic ability, behavioral characteristics, talents, personalities, needs, and learning styles. Our goal is to ensure that each child is in a class that has an appropriate balance of students with the proper teacher. In addition, we assess each child using the data collected from the present classroom teacher(s) and the input of the Student Support Counselor, Reading Specialists, Special Education Teachers, School Psychologist, and Principal. We appreciate the trust you place in our professional judgment, and we will work hard to provide the most appropriate class placements possible.

The placement process works on three levels:

  • Parent Involvement (Optional) – Parent Input Form Survey - available via link, QR Code, and on our school website
  • Professional Staff Involvement
  • Principal Involvement

There is a Parent Input Form Survey for you to provide us with information about your child, which can be located via the link above, QR Code, or on the Doyle Elementary School Website. This is OPTIONAL, as most parents have already been involved as a result of ongoing parent-teacher conferences and communication throughout the school year. Given the complexity of the placement process for almost 500 students, please be aware that the following requests will NOT be considered:

  • Requests for a specific teacher
  • Requests that specific students be placed with your child
  • Requests to NOT have specific teachers, except if you have had another child who has been placed in that teacher’s classroom in the past.

We welcome your input and value your information about your child. If you have information you would like to share about your child, and you choose to fill out the form survey, please complete the survey by 4:00 PM on Friday, April 29th.

We will continue to have a Move Up Day in June. Students will learn about the upcoming grade level including: an introduction of the grade level team of teachers and curriculum highlights, as has been our Doyle tradition. As of right now, students will learn their classroom teacher assignments the first week of August on the Parent Portal. A more specific date will be communicated.

Kind regards,

Mrs. Kate Fantaskey, Principal
