The Mexico 59 Board of Education is having a busy August.
The Mexico 59 Board of Education is having a busy August. On Tuesday, August 11th, the board met to discuss bond issue financing as it relates to setting the levy for the coming year. On Monday, the 17th, the board will meet with the architect, Hollis and Miller, to discuss project priorities for the 10-year facilities plan. And on Tuesday the 18th, the board will have their regular August meeting, which will include setting the levy for the coming year.
In board action on Monday the 11th, the board approved two items. One was to continue our working relationship with LJHart as our bond council on future bond issue projects. The second item was a resolution to pre-pay $460,000 worth of debt. This prepayment of debt will save the district a little over $92,000 in interest payments.
In addition to saving $92,000 in interest payments, pre-paying the debt gives the board of education flexibility in setting the debt service levy on Tuesday the 18th.
The school district levy is divided between three funds. Mexico59's levy is split between the operations fund, the capital fund and the debt fund. For the year just ended, the total levy was $3.9978 with $3.3301 in operations, $.0800 in capital and $.5877 in debt (add 3.3301+.08+.5877 =3.9978). Due to changes in the district's assessed valuation and the pre-payment of debt, the board of education will have the flexibility to set the debt levy anywhere from its current $.05877 up to $.08900. This will be discussed Tuesday night in some detail and in consideration of the cost of projects identified in the 10-year plan.

Are you interested in working at Mizzou games for extra money?
My name is Mike Cosentino and I am the Director of Event Staffing for Keystone Staffing Resources. We are the company that handles most of the game day positions at Mizzou football games. I am reaching out to you to let you know that we are hiring for the 2015 fall season and would love to meet with you if you would be interested in picking up some extra cash by the working the games. We love teachers and administrators as you tend to have a great work ethic and are great at dealing with the public. Working the 6 home games at Mizzou this year is a great way to pick up some extra spending cash, start a little Christmas savings account, or just get out and enjoy the games without having to spend any money. Plus, the work schedule isn’t overwhelming and won’t interfere with your full time job. 5 of our 6 games this year are on Saturday and one game is on Thursday night.
We staff positions like parking lot attendants, bag checkers, ticket takers, ushers, suite ushers, and field crew. The pay range is between $8-$10/hr and the usual shift is about 8 hours long. If you or someone you know is interested in applying, head on over to our website www.keystoneeventstaffing.com and apply online. We do interview sessions every week and can accommodate your schedule.
Even if this is something you are not interested in, maybe you have family, friends, and/or neighbors that would be interested. Please feel free to pass this email along to anyone you know.
Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you!
