iPads in the Classroom
Taking learning to infinity and beyond!
'All Hail the mighty iPad'
Now, do I have an iPad... well no, but from everything I've heard, this device is pretty dang amazing. Here, I have gathered lots of information and opinions on the iPad and mainly it's role inside the classroom. My first thoughts are that there is something there. Why not include technology like this in learning. It opens up so many more doors to students and makes the world more accessible. But don't let me sway you. Read on fellow thinkers, and decide for yourself...
You can click the title to get the 411 on the iPad from the creators themself... themselves?... whatever. This site is apple.com so yes, it's totally biased... but then again, what isn't these days?
Oh and this vid is just a funny example of how the iPad can't quite do EVERYTHING

It’s Not About the Games or Educational Apps
Lisa Guernsey tells us about her change of heart when it comes to the iPad and the technology it provides. She learned that teachers weren't so concerned with the number of apps it had or the games students could play. They saw the iPad as a tool, a video camera, audio recorder, all in one.
Apple in Education
So this one may be biased, but I had to go to the source at least once. This page is about textbooks and how they equate to the iPad. I for one am tired of how expensive textbooks are and what a pain it is to carry them everywhere. With the iPad, that's all changed. Just some of the features are (of course) all your books in one place, 3D interactive images, highlighting, and sharing.
The Right Questions You Should Ask
Nikolaos Chatzopoulos heeds his readers to ask the right questions when researching the iPad for the classroom. His main focus is whether or not the iPad has been put on a pedestal. Are teachers planning around technology or the students. His answer, focus on the 'How' vs the 'Why' of iPads in the classroom.

Being hasty is iRresponsible
Now I have to play devil's advocate here and give the nay sayers some room. This site claims that the iPads are NOT all they are cracked up to be. The main reasons: Money could be used elsewhere, they are more distracting than helpful, and we are still too unaware of their effects.
5 Problems with iPads in Education
Again, throwing a bone to the opponents. This article focuses more on the money aspect and why the iPad is more of a shiny distraction for students.

iPad Gives Voice to Kids with Autism
Yes! Human interest! I love the feel good stories, so it makes sense that I put one up. CNN does a story about how iPads give kids with Autism a voice. Instead of getting frustrated when they are not understood, the iPad gives them a sense of control and the ability to communicate with the world.

Technology Expands Horizons in North Shore Classrooms
I had to give my hometown of Chicago a shout out ('Sup guys?!). A school in North Shore expanded to include iPads in their curriculum and has seen promising results.
