Making a Change at Gene Pike
Texas Problem Based Learning
Starting with the huge problem, PDA.
My Top Five Soutions for PDA
1. More cameras installed around the school
2. Getting into trouble for PDA
3. Bigger punishments each time you get caught
4. Have more teachers on after-school, before-school, and bus duty
5. During passing periods, teachers stand outside of doorway to watch the hallways
My Top Solution
To prevent PDA, more cameras should be installed around the school. Some of the major places that we need cameras are the gyms and the courtyard. PDA creates an uncomfortable environment for students who feel awkward around relationships or kids who are not in a relationship. School is a place for educational purposes only where disturbances are not welcome. It’s okay to have a girlfriend or a boyfriend, but you should not be allowed to embrace on school grounds. If couples are caught doing these actions, their punishments will depend on the action that was committed.
PDA is an acronym for public display of affection, so it does not only apply to relationships. Friends can also embrace in an inappropriate way, too. In the hallways of Gene Pike, you will see students hugging and holding hands before school, after school, and during passing periods. Although these friends are doing these activities in a playful manner, it can still be identified as PDA. If friends are caught doing these acts, their punishment will vary depending on what the act was.
