Week of October 10-14, 2022
REMINDER - PSAT at LTHS is October 12
All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT exam on Wednesday October 12. 12th grade students will have senior activities during the exam time.
The PSAT 9 is a full length practice exam that will give students a baseline measure of career and college readiness.
10th and 11th grade students will take the PSAT exam as part of the National Merit Scholarship Program. For more information, please see the PSAT NMSQT student guide.
The PSAT is a College Board exam; students must apply for testing accommodations with the College Board - school 504, LPAC, or IEP plans will not automatically be applied to PSAT and College Board exams.
October 12 is the only day LTHS will be offering the PSAT during the 2022-23 school year - there will not be a make-up exam hosted at LTHS. Practice exams are available online and can be taken through Khan Academy.
Students need to bring approved calculators, several number 2 pencils (not mechanical), their LTHS student ID, water, and a quiet snack on exam day. Students will receive an email from lthstesting@ltisdschools.org on or before October 11th with their testing room assignment. Testing will begin promptly at 8:50 am. Students who arrive late to school may not be permitted to enter their exam room if they arrive after the proctor has already started the timer for section 1.
Please contact lthstesting@ltisdschools.org if you have any questions about the PSAT.
Seniors are expected to be on campus and will be involved in required activities for graduation.

Purchaser is putting the “S” on the Student ID.
Purchaser is not using ALL CAPS on the verification section.
Purchaser is using a cell phone. Some phones do not communicate well with payk12. Typical with Android phones but has happened with iPhone.
There is an apostrophe or hyphen in their name. Try it with or without the hyphen or apostrophe.
If the ID is only 5 digits, they may need to add a zero in front of the first number. 12345 vs 012345
This has happened a few times, it is an issue on PAYk12’s end.
Purchaser is using their middle name.
Purchaser is using the name the student goes by, not their name in skyward. (Allie vs Allison)
School Health Advisory Council (SHAC): The Lake Travis School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is a group appointed by the board of trustees to serve at the district level. Members of the SHAC come from different areas of the community and from within the school district. The majority of members must be parents who are not employed by the district. SHACs assist the district in ensuring that local community values are reflected in health education instruction. Additionally, SHACs play an important role in strengthening the connection between health and learning. They can help parents and community stakeholders reinforce the knowledge and skills children need to stay healthy for a lifetime. The SHAC liaison presents the committees' recommendations annually to the school board in the areas of nutrition, health education, human sexuality education, mental health, drug abuse prevention, and physical fitness and activity.
The SHAC meets 4-6 times throughout the year at the EDC from 1:00-2:30pm on the fourth Thursday of the month. If you are interested in serving on the SHAC, please submit an application here to be considered for membership. If you have additional questions, please contact Jennifer Lyon, Director of Health and SEL, at lyonj@ltisdschools.org.

Senior Walk is November 4th - What is it?
The second the clock counts down to the end of the last home game each year, all LTHS seniors who choose to participate make their way to the far end zone on the field. They gather together, stretching from sideline to sideline, some linking arms, to walk the length of the field together to memorialize the “end” of their high school football experience (not counting playoffs). While they walk, very sentimental music plays, families take pictures, & Kleenex makes a fortune on our tradition. The Senior Walk concludes at the opposite end zone. And just like that, this senior year gets really real for those kids! Stay tuned for weekly updates & more details as we get closer. But MARK YOUR CALENDARS! This is the first BIG SENIOR event.
Senior Pictures: All seniors must have a picture taken with CADY Photography by the end of January in order to have their picture in the yearbook.
There are three options:
1- Families schedule a Portrait session through CADY.com that is held at CADY studios or other locations; several package options are available with a range of sitting fees; CADY will offer several scenes/locations, and outfit changes will include cap & gown, tuxedo/drape, multiple casual clothing; all photos will be available for purchase through CADY Photography.
2- Families schedule a Road Show** session through CADY.com at LTHS with $29 sitting fee; CADY will offer three scenes that include cap & gown, tuxedo/drape, one casual clothing; all photos will be available for purchase through CADY Photography; the sitting fee will be applied to the purchase of any package; students meet the photographer in E203 at their appointment time.
3- LTHS staff schedules a “Yearbook Only” session in mid-January; no sitting fees, but all photos will be available for purchase through CADY Photography; CADY will offer two scenes which will include cap & gown, tuxedo/drape; families do not need to do anything to schedule this session.
The tuxedo/drape photo is used in the LTHS yearbook and will be provided at all photo sessions. The cap and gown will also be provided at all photo sessions.
Off-Campus Lunch - Seniors cannot take underclassmen to lunch. This is a for seniors only! Any one abusing this will lose off-campus lunch privileges.

2022-2023 Final Exam Exemption Procedures
Juniors and Seniors are eligible to earn TWO final exam exemptions by adhering to the requirements listed on this document. These exemptions apply to the spring semester only. All students must take all midterm exams in December. Additionally, freshmen and sophomores are not eligible exam exemptions.
How to earn an Exemption:
Grades: Must have a year-long average of an 85% or above for the specific class you are wanting to exempt. Grades will be calculated by averaging RC1, RC2, RC3, and the RC4 average as of May 5th at 4:15pm.
Attendance: Students can have no more than 5 tardies in the specific class they want to exempt beginning on October 13, 2022.
Honor Code: No Tier 2 or Tier 3 honor code violations. Students with a Tier 2 violation cannot exempt the class for which the violation occurred. Students with a Tier 3 violation cannot exempt any classes. This includes additional AP exam exemptions.
AP Classes: Students enrolled in an AP class may earn an additional exemption if they meet all of the exemption requirements listed above and take the AP exam. This applies to sophomores as well.
Exemption Defined: Exempt from the Exam does not mean exempt from attending school.
Failure to attend school during the scheduled exam time will result in the student forfeiting his/her exemption and result in a zero for the exam grade if the student does not complete the makeup exam on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
More information will be shared in the Spring, including the exemption form that will require signatures from teachers, parents, and the student.
