First Week in Recap

Thank you for your patience as we establish new arrival and dismissal routines. All things considered, it has been a great first week.


Please continue to consider walking, biking, or riding the bus, if possible. In fact, students that consistently walk, bike, or ride the bus on and off of campus will be entered into a drawing to win BHS spirit wear, gift cards for Airpods, Apple Watches and more.


We concluded our first week with an all school assembly that focused on community building and school spirit. Students learned the school song and participated in a few cheers that require crowd interaction. Additionally, we showed the first BHS TV episode of the year, highlighting several of the opportunities the students have to get involved.


We look forward to a productive year empowering personal excellence in every learner.

Our annual back to school night will be held on Thursday, September 8th from 7PM to 9PM. Due to the construction around the high school, we will be holding a virtual back to school night.

More information on accessing the zoom links will be sent out closer to the event.

STUDENT ABSENCE REPORTING

BHS believes that attending class, completing assigned work and contributing to the class are indispensable to success in school. Only when a student is in the classroom can he/she take full advantage of fellow classmates’ ideas, the teacher’s knowledge, expertise and counseling, and presentations of materials that enrich the class.

However, we recognizes illness, death in the immediate family, family emergencies and situations beyond the control of the student to be valid causes for missing school. If your student is too ill to come to school, please keep them at home and report the absence via the parent portal of Infinite Campus. Please be aware that attendance calls go out at 11AM each school day for unexcused absences, so it is important to submit absences via Infinite Campus in a timely manner. Attached are directions on how to utilize the parent portal, via the app or website to submit absence requests.

Parents/guardians must seriously consider whether or not the reason for the student missing valuable instructional time is sufficient to warrant the absence.

Purchasing a Senior Recognition Ad for a senior student in the 2023 yearbook is now available!

Yearbook recognition ads are a great way for parents, families and friends to commemorate student achievements and important milestones. In addition, revenue from Recognition Ads helps our school create a higher quality yearbook. To purchase your ad online, go to www.jostensadservice.com, choose your ad size and layout, then enter your text and upload your photos.

Jostens manages BHS yearbook ad pricing and sales, so please do not send materials to the school. Early bird pricing is as follows: 1/2 page ads are $245, 1/4 page ads are $190, and 1/8 page ads are $125. The first deadline to purchase a 2023 Senior Recognition Ad with the above early bird pricing is December 16, 2022. After this date, prices increase to $270, $215, & $150. Again please note that pricing is set by Jostens.

It is always best to talk directly to an adult, however since students and parents are not always comfortable doing so, this is another tool that can be used to alert district administrators about an issue.
