Don't forget to be creative with CDAs!
Don't forget how influential social media can be! With Google Videos we can send out VIDEO CDAs to the Class of 2017. Why not do a Video CDA for the month of November?
If you choose to do this, your video must be submitted to Molly McGravey (mcgraveym@denison,edu) no later than November 12th. We will send the Videos out in ONE email rather than sending out multiple emails to the class of 2017
Work Smarter, Not Harder!!!
Professional Development Corner...
At this time of year you may be considering post graduation plans and/or summer internships. You may also be thinking about applying for a Distinguished Leadership Awards. Many of you will request a letter of recommendation or a reference call from a faculty member, staff member, and/or supervisor. Here are some tips for requesting a professional reference/recommendation:
- You can ask for a reference in person, by phone, or by email.
- When asking try to phrase your request in the following manner, "Do you feel as though you know me well enough to provide me with a professional reference?"
- Once you secure a professional reference, provide your references with a copy of your resume and a description of the job/graduate/professional school you are applying for
- Be sure to provide any specific details if you are applying to a program/school/job that requires a specific type of reference or requires your reference provider to upload the letter of recommendation through an online system
- Keep a list of your references and include their phone number and employment information-take this list to your interview
- Always follow up with a thank you-handwritten notes are often well received and more noticeable than an email
- Keep in touch with those who write you reference letters-it is always great to have a network of people who support you and your professional endeavors.
Thinking about an internship this summer-don't miss out on a stipend. Here are more details:
