Valley High School Update


Academics Next week will be a regular week. Tuesday, December 14th is an Encore day. During Advisory, students and staff were asked to take a survey about COVID 19. The survey asked demographic information, political affiliation, and vaccination status. What was not effectively communicated was the origin of the survey. This survey is a senior’s Science Honors project and the goal was seeking the impact of peer pressure on COVID mitigation practices. The survey was anonymous and optional; I apologize there was not consistent communication regarding the purpose of the survey. Even though this is not related to Academics, we had our final bed bug inspection and no bed bugs were found at Valley High School. Traditionally, Junior parents have worked to gather donations, determine a theme, plan the event activities, and supervise the event. Without parent leadership, this event will not take place. Please reach out to Valley Associate Principal Shannon Campbell (campbells@wdmcs) for more information. We have seen an increase of deliveries to the building for students (birthday gifts, food deliveries, balloons, etc.). Deliveries are not allowed during the school day. Chess Club has resumed match play Tuesdays after school in the Media Center. Students who are interested in poetry, prose or artwork are encouraged to submit their work to Ms. Perry (perrye@wdmcs.org) for a chance to be featured in Valley's literary magazine, Ink. Prayer Club meets Friday morning at 7:20 AM in Mrs. Stanfel's room, 1607. Come for breakfast, fellowship and prayer. Join the Greenhouse Club in room 1329 the first and third Wednesdays of each month after school. Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) meets Thursdays 3:30-4:15 in room 3422. Join us for Anime Club every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 7:30 AM in Ms. Stanfel's Room 1607.
