From the Principal, Cindy Dziadosz
It is hard to believe that the school year is already three-fourths of the way through. It is also hard to believe that I am completing my twenty-sixth year in education and sixth year as principal of LaCygne Elementary.
I have served in several different grade levels and areas in special education as well as middle level summer school administrator and elementary assistant principal before coming to Prairie View. Each experience in my career has helped me to grow as an educator and as a leader.
It is with this growth in mind that I am writing to let you know that I have decided to make a change for the upcoming school year. I have accepted a job as Assistant Director of Special Services with the Spring Hill School District for the 19-20 school year. Please know that I did not take this decision-n lightly. I have loved my time at LaCygne Elementary. What an amazing community of students, staff and families! It has been such an honor to work with you for the last six years and to watch these amazing kiddos grow. I thank you for sharing them with me each day.
We have accomplished so many things in the last six years. I am so proud of the fact that we have a beautiful learning space that finally reflects all of the awesome things that are going on inside. The staff has worked tirelessly during this time to focus their efforts on student learning. I know that this dedicated community of educators will continue to find new ways to bring our students to success. However, I will definitely miss seeing those smiling faces.
I know that the school district will find an amazing leader for our LaCygne Elementary community for the 19-20 school year and beyond. I will work closely with that person to provide a seamless transition. I look forward to working with you for the rest of this school year as we continue to work to guide your students to success. This isn’t goodbye just yet. We have lots of things to accomplish as we finish this school year.
I wish all the best to our LaCygne families and to the future education of each of your children as we move forward.
Did You Know?
- Our school secretary Lena Wilson will be retiring at the end of this school year.
She has served as the secretary of LaCygne Elementary for the last 22 years. We will miss her and wish her well on her well deserved retirement!
Repeat Information
Consistent attendance is like a book: if you miss chapters 3,8 and 12, how can you understand what’s going on in the story? When students miss school, they are missing valuable instruction- in multiple content areas- that simply cannot be replaced, and complete understanding is difficult to achieve. It’s not just absences- it’s tardies as well. When students are tardy it sets the tone for the day- they are always trying to catch up. Students are often embarrassed as well, entering class as everyone else is already settled. They miss out on valuable socializing and camaraderie that occurs while students are getting settled and prepared for the day. In addition, for the students who struggle with organization and keeping up, being tardy severely impacts how their day will proceed. Attendance matters and we need your help!
Tardies
Students arriving from 8:10 AM-9:45 AM will be counted tardy. Excessive tardies are unacceptable. Ten tardies will equal a half day absence.
HALF DAY: If the student arrives after 9:45 or leaves before 2:15 it will be counted as a half day absent.
FULL DAY ABSENCE: If a student arrives after 2:15 they will be counted absent for the full day.
