In Our Classes...
Third grade will start reading El misterio del albertosaurio on Wednesday. We will continue working on identifying and writing different kinds of sentences (questions, statements, exclamations, commands) with special emphasis right now on commands. They received their next spelling list this week (spelling test: February 10) and you can also access it here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CZVU-Y8s1ElwyDUpLl5kONk44WTmlO5c6saKWRZoxj0/edit?usp=sharing
Fourth grade read last week about Migrations of locusts and whales and will continue to work on migration this week. We are still working on our verb conjugations and will see more stem changing verbs this week. Their spelling test is this Friday and their words are here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17G56SSVw9iU9f5yjc9tkOZCDWoUZSYp0QUzjJMVAlu8/edit?usp=sharing
Please note these are homophones so they also need to know what the mean, which we will be working on tomorrow and Thursday.
Both grades will be working on increasing their vocabulary and from now until the end of the school year will receive a weekly list of 12 frequently used verbs. Students will be drawing a representation of the action and writing sentences using those verbs. We are truly putting into practice how important conjugating verbs is!
Science
We will continue working on the nervous system this week and I hope to start our body system mini-book by the end of the week. Students will use what they've learned to complete a template with all the information they can.
Math
We started Chapter 7 today on decimals, focusing first on tenths (décimos). We will continue working with fractions, especially word problems with fractions, as well as decimals. These are two essential concepts, so be sure to have your child do extra practice at home on IXL. All students should have received their login information from me either written in their agenda or in their math notebook. If you still need it, let me know.
Social Studies
We will wrap up our state research this week before making our final project state brochure/poster in the coming weeks. This will take place both at school and at home, so please be prepared to help your child put all the information together. We are also adding to our social studies "tool kit" by learning about time zones.
