We are 'All-In' this Together at Mathews!

An Extra Hour of Sleep! Really!

Don't forget we bid farewell to Daylight Savings Time this weekend until next spring. (The second Sunday in March.)

So set your clocks to fall back an hour and enjoy the extra hour of sleep Saturday night to Sunday morning!

We are looking forward to another great week as we kick off November with gratitude for all we have with our students, our families, our friends, our teachers, and our school.

Mathews...We are "All-In"!

Fall Days...

With cooler temperatures and/or wet mornings...less students will walk or ride their bikes to school.

Carpool drop off lines do get longer, especially after 7:35!

We appreciate your help in getting everyone ready to have a great day of learning.

Encourage your child to pack their backpack the night before. Have clothes laid out and ready to start the day before bedtime. Then...perhaps set that alarm about 5-10 minutes earlier to allow for putting on jackets and gloves not to mention the additional cars in the carpool line.

Our building opens for breakfast at 7:00.

Ideally, if you plan for your child to be in the building at 7:30 there is plenty of time to get unpacked and ready for learning and you can avoid a long line!

With daylight savings time ending at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 3 students will begin waking to daylight and ready to get a head start on their day. It is a great time to take advantage of getting to school with a little less stress and a little more time.

As we look forward to our annual Veterans Day Celebration Monday, November 11 we want to encourage everyone to wear red, white, and blue!

Veterans are welcome to join us for this special assembly as we honor their service to our country.

The program begins at 8:15 to allow plenty of time for our veterans and guest to sign-in and find their seats.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Kindness and Caring x 250!

Thanksgiving is a beautiful time to celebrate and embrace all we have in family and friends.

It is also a wonderful time to teach children empathy and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Our can food drive will be the month of November. Coach B has some fun ideas of showing children how small acts of kindness can build something incredible when we work together!

Our goal is to donate 250 cans. This would be the equivalent of one can donation per family. We look forward to a drawing at the end of November to read to classes if we reach our school-wide goal. Just like our peanut butter campaign, this is not a competition between classes, but rather a celebration of our school community working and coming together to make a difference!

Thank you for participating has a family in this meaningful act of kindness. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to 'be the difference in the world.'

The can food drive will begin November 1 through November 22.
