21st Century Cyber Charter School Newsletter: December 2020

Notes From Our Principals
Hello to our Parents and Students at 21st Century Cyber Charter School,
We hope you had a fun and relaxing Thanksgiving Holiday break and are back into the school mode to finish up the 2020 part of the 2020-2021 school-year!
It is hard to believe we are now in December and Winter break and the end of the quarter will be here soon. The quarter ends on January 21st at 3:30pm. If your child is in danger of failing one or more of their courses for the school year, it’s not too late! Winter break is a perfect time to complete and submit assignments to get back on track to pass the course for the year. Moodle is available throughout winter break. Please remember that the virtual offices and teachers are not available over break. Teachers are available until December 23 to help create schedules and goals to complete over break.
Once again, we hope you find the following strategies helpful for continued educational success:
Be aware - as a student and as a parent, be aware of the upcoming assignments, tests and quizzes in Moodle. This will help you to prepare and to succeed!
Stay focused - with winter break coming up, it’s easy to be distracted by all of the holiday happenings, but if you stay focused and finish your school-work early on, it will be a much more enjoyable break!
Earn your break - with Winter break coming up, work hard to give yourself a break during those weeks.
Don’t hesitate to ask for help. We at 21st Century are here to help you and want to see you succeed through having the best learning experience we can provide.
Please continue to check in on Moodle and the 21st Century Cyber Charter School social media pages to see what fun events and field trips we have coming up. We look forward to welcoming in December with all of our students, parents and staff at 21st Century Cyber Charter School!
Counselor's Corner
Hi 21CCCS Family - it’s December already and the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is upon us. For many of you, this may look a little bit different this year. But regardless of your plans, the holiday season is a special and cozy time of year. It is a time when we often find ourselves thinking of others - what is the perfect gift, will they love it, will everyone get enough to eat? It is certainly important to care for others. However, we also want to remind you that it is equally important to care for yourself. Self-care helps us be better versions of ourselves and allows us to more effectively be there for others.
Many of us find the holidays to be fun yet stressful at times. So with keeping self-care in mind, here is a list of tips to remind yourself of during the upcoming weeks:
Give yourself permission to slow down. Do not rush through the chores or the gift wrapping. Instead, try to enjoy the little moments.
Get enough rest. Quality sleep is important. When we are well rested we are more awake to enjoy things throughout the day.
Take a walk and get some fresh air. Enjoy those beautiful holiday lights in your neighborhood.
Remember to think positively. A positive attitude will spread to others.
Savor the good times. Take time to laugh with your family and friends - whether over Zoom or Facetime or in person.
Do something you love - perhaps bake cookies, exercise, or give to a charity.
Remember to be grateful. Practicing gratitude improves your empathy towards others, improves your mental health, and others will benefit too.
Focus on making memories. Take pictures or create videos to document the good times. Someday, you will look back on them fondly.
The counselors would like to wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season. We hope that you find the time to practice these self-care tips and indulge in a little pie and hot cocoa! As always, if you need anything please come visit us in the Guidance and Nurse Virtual Office, give us a call, or send us an email.
All the best,
~ Mrs. McCoy, Mrs. Moynihan, Mr. Galiczynski, Ms. Cooke, Miss Bright, & Ms. Fiore

Community Feedback Forum
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and Interim CEO, Brian Cote, will be holding a monthly 21CCCS Community Feedback Forum for both parents and students. This will be an opportunity to learn about the process of the school’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Parents and students are encouraged to share information on things that have been going well for our school, as well as ideas/suggestions to move our school forward. This forum will not be a question/answer session. If parents or students have questions during the forum, our staff will work to respond to those questions in our monthly Flex Gazette.
