Egypt was ruled by a pharaoh (FAH-roh), or king. Like Rameses ll Rameses ll, also known as Rameses the Great, was one of the most famous rulers in Egyptian times. Rameses ll began to rule about 1279 it lasted about 65 years and he also had dozens of wives and about 200 children. Rameses thought very highly of himself and built a lot of monuments throughout Egypt that honored him.The most famous monuments of all times was Abu Simbel (AH-boo SIM-bell) it was craved out of solid rock. Egypt is one of the oldest civilizations in the world. More the 5,000 years old.

Ancient Egypt Animals

All animals in the Egypt times were considered important or special but all in different ways depending on what animal and what it does. Cats were the the most in important because. In the Ancient Egypt times cats were like magical creatures and supposed to bring good luck. In the Ancient Egypt times they treated the animals like they were kings or you can say. If they took care of the animal and housed them the animal would bring good luck. The wealthy people in the Egypt times honored animals with dressing them with jewels and mummified them when they died . As a sign of mourning, the cat owners shaved off their eyebrows, and continued to mourn until their eyebrows grew back. Egypt people thought that their gods can change of being differ animals.

The Pyramids

In Ancient Egyptian pyramids were royal tombs. Kings and queens were buried within pyramids the kings were buried under bigger ones than the queens. Great pyramid is over 450 feet high. The Great pyramid contains over 2 million individual stone blocks each block weighs more than two tons. over 4,000 year the great pyramid was the tallest human structure on earth.
