For all of our new Bulldogs, welcome to the Bellerose Family! Bellerose is such a fantastic place to belong, and we look forward to meeting and welcoming you into our school. Bellerose offers a strong variety of programs, activities, and opportunities for students to get involved in their learning and their school community. Our student and leadership teams will be hosting a Week of Welcome, that will include a Team and Clubs Fair on Friday, September 1st, over the lunch hour. Please take some time to explore what Bellerose has to offer you!
At Bellerose, we value our focus on inclusivity. An integral part of our school culture and identity has always been celebrating the different strengths and interests of our students. This focus is reflected in the diverse programming our school offers. Bellerose continues to build upon and create great programs and traditions in all academic areas, as well as showcase first class programs and events such as our Musical Theatre Production, Bikeathon, the International Baccalaureate Programme, our Inclusive Education Programs, Fine Arts, Athletics, Physical Education and Health Pathway programs, Student Leadership Teams, and Career and Technology Studies. New Student Orientation
On Wednesday, August 30th, we are excited to host a New Student Orientation. A welcome address will begin at 10am in the atrium and tours of the school will follow from 10:15-11am. This optional orientation is open to all Grade 10 students and any Grade 11 and 12 students who are new to Bellerose.
First Day of School

Google Classroom
Students have the opportunity to join their grade level google classroom to receive information regarding student activities, grade level and whole school announcements and club/athletics information:
Grade 10 - zq72yno
Grade 11 - wqjlgad
Grade 12 - eb7it7p
These Google classrooms are a great way to stay on top of student activities and information at Bellerose, in addition to our instagram page (linked below) and media and posters around the school.
School Photos
Students will receive their Student ID card at the time of the photo, which is needed for checking out books from the Library as well as during exam times to prove identity.
It is important for all students to have their photos taken, even if they are not interested in ordering school photos.
Student Lockers
Scan the QR code to request a locker or visit the link in your grade level google classroom
*Students are reminded that lockers are school property and must be used appropriately.

PowerSchool
There are 2 types of PowerSchool Portal accounts. The Student Portal and the Parent Portal.
The Student Portal is designed to be viewed on an app or through a web browser. The student portal's main purpose is for students to view their classes, their attendance and their grades. Locker information can be viewed on the Student Portal, but only when accessed through a web browser (details as to how it can be found is under the Locker section of this Newsletter).
The Parent Portal is designed for parents/guardians to be able to access student’s marks and attendance as well as to be able to view and to pay school fees, and access more detailed information. While the Parent Portal works both on a phone and through a web browser, the access to student school fees can only be viewed when Parent Portal is accessed through a web browser.
If you have difficulty accessing your PowerSchool Portal accounts please contact the school office at 780-460-8490 or email bellerose@spschools.org.
Student Attendance
Regular attendance is vital to a student's academic success and is a key factor in a student's ability to have a strong connection to all aspects of classroom and school learning. This is particularly important in the fast paced semesters of high school.
If you know that your student will be late or absence from class, we ask that you notify the school with a brief message at br.absences@spschools.org or by calling 780.460.8490
For any absences that are unexcused, an automated phone system contacts the home between 4-9pm when a student has missed a class. If you are unaware of the absence, you are encouraged to speak to your student and contact the school if you require follow up action.
School Supply Lists
As every student’s timetable is unique, school supply lists are not issued for high school students. Students should bring paper and pens for the first day of classes and will be given information regarding necessary items from course teachers on the first day of classes.
School Fees
School fees for the 2023/2024 school year will be posted to your student’s account starting in October. A statement will be sent to families once school fees are ready to be viewed and paid.
Parents will be able to view and pay school fees on the PowerSchool ParentPortal
Semester 2 school fees will be added to PowerSchool accounts once semester 2 courses have begun.
Updated statements will be emailed throughout the year which may also include new fees for field trips, athletics and other activities as they occur.
Please check the PowerSchool ParentPortal regularly for any additional amounts.
Changes of Demographics
If you or your student change phone number, address, email address, etc., please contact the school at bellerose@spschools.org to update your information.
Insurance & Waiver Forms
Staff members/coaches are required by District Policy to have Waiver Forms completed and signed for student activities/athletics. From time to time, please expect that your son/daughter will require a waiver form be signed and returned to the school to allow participation in an activity/event. Your cooperation is appreciated in ensuring that waiver forms are returned as quickly as possible. It is also recommended by the district that students carry Student Accident Insurance, particularly if the student is involved in activities and athletics. INDUSTRIAL ALLIANCE PACIFIC INSURANCE FORMS can be found and applied for online.
