School of Professional Studies
SPS LIVE and SPS Virtual Update
October Wrap-Up
October was a busy month for students participating in both SPS LIVE and SPS Virtual. We began the new month by working with the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey. Each week, the students explore a new Habit through discussion, demonstration, and practice. We'll continue to practice these new habits and skills throughout the school year here in SPS.
All SPS students began working on their comprehensive Career and College Portfolio in October. Students will be adding career research, activities, and goals to their portfolios throughout the year. These portfolios will be an excellent way to showcase what students have learned by participating in SPS.
In addition to the 7 Habits and Career Exploration, SPS LIVE students participated in an "Activity Day" in which they designed and developed an activity related to their certificate tracks. The students were then able to teach their activities to other PALCS students who were on-site in Pittsburgh for Picture Day. SPS LIVE students were great instructors to students in all grade levels. We have all received very positive feedback from parents, students, and staff about how professional and engaging everyone was!
