A Message from the Principal...
Dear friends,
Teachers, I want to thank you for a great two days of professional learning on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons last week. This week on Thursday, we have a Ram Way meeting. Representatives from the district IT Department and Nearpod will be training us on how to use that tool and introducing our digital citizenship curriculum to us. On Friday, our non-student day, we will analyze our data relative to the goals we set for last year and establish new goals for this year. While we have access to MAP data, we are still awaiting for our SBAC data to post. Despite individual student reports being mailed out last week, school and district data is still embargoed. We are awaiting word from the district regarding the availability of this information. We hope to finalize our Data Day plan at the Joint Operational and Instructional Meeting on Tuesday and will get an agenda out to you shortly thereafter.
Have a great week!

Team Ram Kudos & News!
Please welcome our long-term substitute, Paul Swanson, who will be covering Xoong Lou's classroom as he spends time being a dad. His PUSD email is pswanson@powayusd.com.
This Thursday our PTSA will be providing us with muffins and donuts before our RAM Way meeting. If you haven't already joined, please consider becoming a member. They are a huge supporter of Twin Peaks and especially the RAM Way. Don't forget your checkbook or cash if you would like to join. They will have enrollment forms available for you at the meeting.
This is a reminder, that students are not allowed to eat on the new benches next to the #100 & #700 buildings during lunch, but they may sit on them, when they are done eating. Food consumption at lunch is restricted to the west side of the quad.Thank you.
- Principal Site Visits - With the change in cabinet and the superintendent's focus on creating the culture and conditions to support world class learners, the district is changing the way it delivers professional development to administrators. This year, we will be meeting at several different sites throughout PUSD. Twin Peaks will be hosting the Middle School Principal Meeting on October 24th. Much like the learning walks we conducted last year, we will be visiting classrooms in groups of three. The purpose of the visits is twofold: 1) To gain a deeper understanding of Math and NGSS standards/curriculum and instructional practices that support equitable learning opportunities; and 2) To calibrate our understanding of strong instructional practices across content areas and effective use of curriculum to support learning. More information will be shared at a later date.

News from Library
What a great opening of the TPMS Library: In just 8 days we have circulated 1,369 books! That is more than we average a month typically.
Be sure to see Heidi, our teacher librarian, if you are needed help with lessons or would like a research, digital citizenship, or book genre talk.
We are pleased to announce a special guest author visit on 9/27 from Brian Wells. His adventure tale, The League and the Lantern, is our One Book, One Twin Peaks Title for September!
Summary:
“AFTER A DISASTROUS SIXTH GRADE, Jake Herndon is anxiously awaiting his Big Do-Over, starting with his new school's notorious seventh grade sleepover. Awkward team-building games and forced fun quickly become the least of his problems, however, when a dangerous organization invades and the night takes a shocking turn. Jake and two new classmates, Lucy and TJ, barely escape, only to find themselves in a fight for survival on the streets of Chicago. Over the next 48 hours they unravel a mystery dating back to the Civil War and an incredible secret about Jake s family.
Full of unforgettable characters and unexpected twists, The League and the Lantern is a jaw-dropping ride of mind-bending revelations and laugh-out-loud humor. If Jake and his new friends can make it through this weekend, they just might have a shot at seventh grade.
In this debut novel, family television executive producer and dad Brian Wells has created an epic, rip-roaring comedy adventure that is also about courage, family and friendship. The result is an engaging mix of great characters, crackling wit and unexpected twists that 9- to 14-year-olds, entertainment executives and family groups are applauding.
Wells works from the belief that great entertainment is driven by memorable characters and imaginative writing, and it shows. The League and The Lantern delivers all of this and more without objectionable language or inappropriate themes. Throw in a plot that traces back to real historical figures and you ve got what some are calling Percy Jackson meets National Treasure” (Amazon).
