Here is what's on top at Buena Vista! 12/1/2021
Note from the Principal
Good Afternoon Parents,
I hope you all had a quiet and restful Thanksgiving Break. I enjoyed spending time with my family this last week. Over break my son, Lucas, played his last regular season football game of his undergraduate college career. It's been exciting watching him grow into the young man he has become. I thought I would share a picture of the fun we had at the Rose Bowl last weekend. It seems like just yesterday he was in elementary school himself! Time sure flies... cherish each moment.
I know that you have been monitoring your own child's academic and social growth since we returned back to full time in-person instruction. I am hoping you were all able to access your child's first trimester report cards. However, I have seen that many of you have not looked in the report card portal yet. Please take some time to review your child's report card.
The information on how to do so is below. Report cards can be accessed electronically in the Parent Portal. Please take a moment to review the instruction link below. I

If you have difficulty accessing it please reach out to me. If you can access it and have any questions about your child's progress, please reach out to your child's teacher directly.
Student Learning
Somehow November was a very busy month and I know these next 3 weeks in December will move just as fast. I plan to visit as many classes as I can over these next 3 weeks to see student learning. Today I was able to visit Mr. Haller's SCD class and observe students following a step by step recipe to make their own snack. Students were able to practice their culinary skills along with following directions and cooperation skills. Their graham cracker trains with frosting for "glue," bananas for wheels, carrying loads of raisins and cut up grapes looked delicious!
It's been a great first trimester. Please continue to be safe and take care.
Respectfully,
Angela Gramlick

Drum Roll, Please … The Read-a-Thon Totals Are In!
More than 685,000 minutes read and (drum roll!) ... $92,193 was raised! Thank you to our principals for their amazing rewards and leading the charge; to our librarians and teachers for getting our students excited to read; to our parents and guardians for encouraging your children; and to our many, many volunteers for the beautiful wish trees, emails, and excitement. Our students only benefit from art, music, science lab, electives, credentialed librarian and math support with your support of WCEF. You make our schools stronger.
Look out for our raffle and overall winners to be announced this week!
Week of Giving Kicks Off November 30
Our campus wish trees reminded us of the power of community. When one student wrote that they wished “art class was longer,” we thought about how fortunate students are to live in a community that supports public schools. These programs come at a cost. And each year your donations to WCEF make more programs possible.
Starting November 30 on GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, we are asking our greater Walnut Creek community to make a donation of any amount so students don’t have to wish for a well-funded education. For those who have donated, thank you. All donations ensure the very best possible education for all students.
