Now Enrolling for Kindergarten 2020-2021
The Beaverton School District is now enrolling for Kindergarten for all elementary schools for the 2020-2021 school year.
Any child who will be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2020 is eligible to enroll for Kindergarten. Online Registration is available for new student enrollment. Parents/guardians will need to provide a birth certificate and immunization record at the time of online enrollment.
Starting this week, each school will designate a day and time when parents may pick up a registration packet for those that do not have online access.
If you are uncertain about which elementary school is your home school, you can check any address to see what elementary, middle or high school attendance boundary it is located in using the District Address Locator.

Elementary Grading and Reporting - Second Semester 2020
After Governor Kate Brown announced the closure of schools for the remainder of the academic year, Teaching & Learning began working towards Phase 3 of our Remote Learning plan. Elementary content Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSAs) established priority learning targets and units in Reading, Writing and Math. Lessons in Health, Science and Social Studies were also provided during this time. The lessons and learning activities for teachers and students were created with the goal of creating a common experience for all.
Even with a consistent curriculum, we are aware that the ability to access learning will look very differently for students. While learning remotely for some will be an easy reach, for some grade levels the learning will first be about the technology and then the lessons themselves.
During this time, teachers continue to reach out and provide students with whole group and small group instruction. While engaging with students, we acknowledge assessing students would look very different from classroom to classroom and child to child. While some students will adapt quickly and thrive, others may be uncomfortable sharing their knowledge and understanding in this format.
To help relieve the pressure on students, families and teachers, we are implementing a more standardized grading approach at the elementary level for the second semester. The intent of the report card is to provide information about a child’s engagement and participation during this closure.
When you receive the elementary report card this year you will see the changes described below.
Behavior Marks
X - Not assessed this semester
Each report card will also include the following auto-populated comment.
School closure was ordered by Governor Brown in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Academic Progress is marked with an X as teachers do not have adequate summative assessment data for students. Comments in Reading, Writing, and Math reflect the participation and engagement of students during the period of Remote Learning. Paper packets which mirrored the learning of the Remote Learning classrooms were given to some students. During this closure, the social emotional health of a child was our number one priority.
Academic Progress for All Subject Areas
X – Not assessed this semester
In the areas of Reading, Writing and Math, teachers will include a comment that reflects the students participation and engagement during this time. Report card comments will also reflect a goal for moving forward. PE and Music specialists will also be including information about the concepts and skills instructed during the period of Remote Learning.
Thank you for partnering with us to help educate your child. We acknowledge that these are challenging times and that we are learning together. Thank you for allowing our teachers into your home each day. If you need assistance, we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher for support.

Families affected by COVID-19 may still apply for free and reduced meals for this school year.
Oregon is the recipient of a grant to provide funds to children experiencing food insecurity during this Pandemic. The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs is supporting the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program by collecting data from schools.
