Jocasta
- The wife of Laius, after Laius dies she marries her son Oedipus and has 2 daughters and 2 sons with him
Laius
Grandson of Cadmus. He was married to Jocasta. Him and his wife left their son to be killed because he thought he was going to kill him. Laius was killed at a crossroads outside Thebes on a religious pilgrimage
Oedipus
The son of Jocasta and Laius. He is the only man able to solve the Sphinx's riddle which makes the Sphinx kill herself, he was then proclaimed the savior of Thebes and rewarded with the marriage of Jocasta (his mother) They have 2 sons and 2 daughters together.
King Polybus and Queen Merope
- They are the King and Queen of Corinth. They were childless and took in the son of Jocasta and Laius and named him Oedipus
Sphinx
The Sphinx is a winged monster with the head of a woman and the body of a lion. She kills all who fails to answer her riddle correctly. After Oedipus solved it, she killed herself.

Creon
He is Oedipus's brother in law, whom Oedipus sent to the oracle of Apollo to ask how to lift this blight.
