Mobile Hotspots
The Jean Burr Smith Library is excited to announce that 10 Mobile Hotspots are now available for current MxCC students. These devices are intended to support students who may not have internet access at home. Hotspots may be checked out from the library for the entire semester during Covid-19. If you are aware of a student(s) in need, please share this information and refer your students to the Library Guide for further instructions. Thank you for sharing this important information.
Sincere thanks to System Office IT and MxCC Director of IT Annie Scott for supplying and configuring these devices in support of our community college students.
De Gruyter Collection
MxCC now has permanent online access to the De Gruyter Book Collection. Included in the collection is almost every book published by:
Harvard University Press, 2000-2020
Iberoamericana Vervuert, 1979-2020
University of Chicago Press, 2017-2020
Yale University Press, 2016-2020
Access to these books includes chapter-by-chapter PDF downloads. If you would like to use one of these books in your Blackboard Course, Librarians are standing by to help create permanent links!
Search “degruyterct” in the Library Discovery tool to browse a list of all titles.
Social Justice Book Collection
The Jean Burr Smith Library is proud to announce the Social Justice Book Collection. This collection includes a selection of titles that engage critical issues of race and social justice in the United States.

Reminders from Your Lovely Librarians
One-on-One with Students
Students can email mx-library@mxcc.edu to set up an appointment for personalized research help. One-on-one appointments with students are conducted face to face, over Web-Ex. Many students view instructors as their “research coach” - if you recommend that students meet with a librarian, they’ll listen!
