Weekly Motto: Are my thoughts helping me or hurting me?

Please take some time to discuss these thoughts at home this week:

How can my thinking make my life better or worse?

  1. Focusing on the downside: Complaining – When we complain in our mind, or out loud to other people, we often make the experience worse for ourselves and the people around us. Complaining rarely makes your day better, but it can make it worse. To have a better day, don’t complain.
  2. Focusing on the upside: Positivity – Thinking about what is good in your life right now and focusing on positive thoughts can help you have a better day. Ask yourself, “What’s something positive I can focus on right now?”
  3. Emotions: Warning Signals – Usually your emotions will notify you if your thinking is helping or hurting you. If you have negative emotions, you are probably having negative thoughts, and if you have positive emotions, you are probably having positive thoughts.

Hey K-3 Firebird Families!

Thank you for your patience and support to complete DIBELS Reading assessments!

It's been wonderful to see your student's smiling faces.

If you still need to schedule a time, please email me @

Friendly Reminder:

Our goal at Gavilan Peak is to provide quality instruction for every learner. If you have specific questions for your child's teacher, please do not use Zoom instructional time for parent Q&A. Our teachers are more than happy to set a private time to help answer any questions you may have. Instructional time is designated for student learning and support. We appreciate your assistance with our goal.
