Saturday. Nearly 40 students. Manchester High School. Voluntary.
No, not for a Saturday detention, but an opportunity students are taking to get work done! Kaitlyn Kennedy and Ashley Bell, MHS’s On Track Coordinators, provide a safe space last Saturday for freshmen students to get work done. Kennedy and Bell have recruited other MPS staff to support their efforts . Shout out to Dr. Ortega, Ms. Seaha, Ms. Turek, and Ms. Okwuazi.
According to one student, “I didn’t know this was a thing. I prefer coming on Saturdays because I don’t have so many distractions. I’m happy I got some work done too.” Kennedy said that, “Providing these opportunities , especially before the mid and final marking periods helps alleviate students stress levels which makes waking up on a Saturday morning worth it. Providing donuts and juice also doesn’t hurt the efforts to get kids through the door!”
