A Message From the Principal
We have some important dates that you should be aware of for the month of November. The week of October 31st -November 4th, will be College Application & Exploration Week. Students at Tuscarora will be participating in a wide variety of activities for the week. Also, next week (October 31-November 4th) is also the week of the Book Fair at Tuscarora! This has been a family favorite for over 30 years! Remember that November 8th is Election Day and there will be NO SCHOOL for students and staff. Additionally, on November11th, there will be NO SCHOOL for students and staff in honor of Veterans Day. Lastly, from November 21st -25th there will be NO SCHOOL for students and staff due to the Thanksgiving holiday & break.
Also, please remember that as we just ended the 1st 9 weeks, Parent -Teacher conferences are just around the corner. I encourage you to please reach out to your student’s teacher if you feel a conference is needed. Conferences this year are from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 1st .
As always, thank you for your support of Tuscarora! Have a wonderful November!

A Note from Nurse Lynne
Here are some tips and friendly reminders about staying healthy:
❖ Children and parents are encouraged to get the flu shot. If parents get sick, you are more likely to pass the germs to your children
❖ To help stop the spread of germs, teach children to cover their mouth and nose when they sneeze. Teach them to cough into a tissue, their elbow or shirt
❖ Always wash hands – children should wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. You could sing a short song to show them how long 20 seconds is (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, ABC, Happy Birthday song, etc.) or count to 20 seconds. If soap and water aren’t available, use hand sanitizer.
❖ If your child is sick, remember they need to be free of fever, diarrhea, or vomiting in the past 24 hours without the use of medications before returning to school. Additionally, their appetite and activity level have returned close to normal. Any remaining cold symptoms are mild enough so as not to interfere with your child’s ability to participate in the activity of a normal school day or infect other students.
❖ Please remember that cold and cough medicines, including cough drops cannot be brought to school by students, or given by staff without a doctor’s order.
❖ If your child visits the doctor, please remember to obtain a note so that your child will be medically excused.
❖ The School-Based Health Clinic continues to have a provider here at Tuscarora every Wednesday afternoon. If you would like your student seen here by the nurse practitioner, please give me a call and we can coordinate an appointment for him / her.
Just for fun…. What do you call a turkey that runs???? Fast food!
