Message from Geordie

Good afternoon again families,

A nice short one from me today.

Just wanted to say a MASSIVE thankyou and Happy Mother’s Day to all the significant women in our lives. Our Mums are our taxi driver, our chef AND waitress, our counsellor, events coordinator, referee, doctor, sports coach, personal assistant, cuddle monster, teacher and our biggest fan! I hope we all get the opportunity to celebrate our special women this weekend!

Thanks to Year 1 and Mrs Bennett for their awesome assembly this morning, it was great fun to watch! Enjoy the weekend and the opportunity to see each other smile …We will see everyone next Monday!

More excellent work in class!

Naplan 2021

Over the next fortnight, the Year 3 and 5 students will participate in NAPLAN assessments. Assessments are given in reading, writing, conventions of language and numeracy. This year, students will complete the assessments online, except for the Year 3 Writing assessment, which will still be completed on paper.

Teachers have been working with students to ensure they are familiar with the test format but it is important not to overstate the importance of the tests or to build up anxiety in the children. We have been explaining to the students that NAPLAN helps the teachers determine what we need to focus on in teaching and learning and that they just need to give their best efforts.

Walk Safely to School Day - Friday 14 May

Big picture
Next Friday is National Walk Safely to School day. We would love to see as many of our students as possible walking (riding or scooting) to school. Each student who does this will receive a free apple when they arrive at school and a double Star Card punch! Remember all it takes is 25 active trips to enter into the Rebel Sport $50.00 voucher competition!

Mrs King will be at the IGA car park at 8.00am and we are hoping to create a really long "walking school bus' all the way from the shops to school. See you there!!

General Road Safety

Please chat to your children about general road safety, particularly about wearing their helmets and staying on the cycle paths. It has been brought to our attention that there are a few children who need to be reminded of this.
