A Christmas Carol
A play that's brings your jaw to drop
The play A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is an enchanting play in which, the irascible Scrooge, the main character has to sort his life and to deal with the ghost which haunt him. You can also read the book but I strongly recommend you to watch the play. It is just because the will give you a better understanding, in the sense the English used in book is old English which is difficult to understand whereas the play uses modern language. For example, ""Plenty of prisons. But under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the unoffending multitude, a few of us are endeavoring to raise a fund to buy the poor some meat and drink, and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?"which is difficult to understand but the same thing is enacted in the play and you easily understand. In addition, the play also gives a descriptive idea of the characters while in the book it only gives you the status of weather he/she is rich or poor. For example, Scrooge in the book is a rich guy while in the play his clothing or dressing sense and ascent gives you a lot idea beforehand. The play also gives you an idea of what's going on while, if you are reading the book and your mind gets a little distracted you might not understand unlike the play. For example, the house and other sets gives you an idea where you are and you can link in again unlike in the book. I highly recommend you all to see the play especially if you are interested in a story of sacrifices of an old grumpy man who hates Christmas and after all how it all changes.
Scrooge(the main character) had to give up his past and his present and give everything a fresh new start. The sacrifice I made was not that great but for me it was a big deal, I had to give up all my entertainment(television, computer, video games, etc) because my sister was in 10th grade and had to study hard for getting good grades. But I am happy because my sacrifices did something good to someone.
