Dear Robinwood Families,

As I shared with all Robinwood families in the spring, we were informed that Robinwood Elementary had been nominated by Wisconsin to join the esteemed community of National Blue Ribbon Schools. I am very proud to follow up that message with an announcement that Robinwood has been awarded the honor of being named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School and we are featured here on their website This award is not only a reflection of the hard work the staff and students are doing here at Robinwood, but this is also a great spotlight on the bigger work of Franklin Public Schools across all of our school buildings.

National Blue Ribbon Schools are public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools that are producing outstanding results for all students. They have demonstrated consistent excellence and made progress in closing gaps in student achievement. The National Blue Ribbon Schools recognition program is part of a larger U.S. Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about effective school leadership and promising instructional practices. Robinwood is recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School.

Since its inception in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has recognized more than 9,000 Great American Schools. Each year, representatives of newly recognized schools gather for a ceremony in Washington, DC where their achievement is officially honored by the U.S. Department of Education. We are looking forward to representing Robinwood and Franklin Public Schools at this ceremony in November. This award will open the doors for us to share more with the national community about the great opportunities that we are affording children.

This year, 9 outstanding public schools are named 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools from Wisconsin. At Robinwood, we are very proud to receive this honor and to represent Franklin Public Schools and the work that we are all doing to be a better place to learn, a better place to work, and part of a better community.

Thank you for being a part of this special honor.

Mr. Chad Nelson, Principal

It is always a good idea to have an extra mask in your student's backpack. We have had several students forget to bring a mask in the morning or lose their mask at lunch. Thanks for your help.

As part of a School-Based Mental Health Grant we received as a district, we are excited to offer a Fall and Winter opportunity to train parents and community members in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA). During the YMHFA course, participants develop an understanding of the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, the importance of early intervention, and how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Participants will engage in a 2-hour self-paced online course followed by a 4.5 hour in-person session with a district trainer on Friday, November 19th from 12-4:30pm. If you do not have access to needed technology for the online self-paced portion, arrangements can be made to provide you with a device and/or internet access. The deadline to register is Tuesday, October 19th. Please complete this survey to indicate your interest in participating. A confirmation email will be sent to finalize your enrollment in the course and next steps.

This year we will continue our Blue Shirt wearing tradition in support of Bullying Prevention. Each month we will have Anti-Bullying Blue Shirt Days on the 1st Wednesday of the month starting Wednesday, October 6th.

In regards to visitors or volunteers, any person entering any school building during the school day when children are present for school is required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Masks should be worn at all times when in the building, and the visitor/volunteer should limit direct contact with others and maintain social distance (6 feet or more) when able.

Visitors and volunteers who are outdoors during the school day where students are present are required to wear a mask unless they have been vaccinated. Visitors or volunteers in the building after school, in locations where students are not present, are not required to wear a mask.

  • We are excited to be opening our doors again to parents coming into our school this fall. Our goal is to continue to limit direct contact and maintain social distance. Due to the nature of the lunchroom and playground protocols and the need for limiting these interactions, at this time we would not have volunteers or visitors during lunch and recess. When this changes in the future, we will include an update in the weekly bulletin for families, and visitors/volunteers will be required to follow our visitors and/or volunteer registration processes outlined on this page of our website.

Our FPS Food Service Department is currently experiencing a number of changes in food supply offerings due to shortages or certain items. If you have a child that has certain dietary needs or restrictions, please review the online Nutrislice menu offerings for your building more closely so you can be aware of any food items that may have been swapped. Our Food Service staff is updating the menu daily with changes and they expect regular updates and food replacements for the foreseeable future.

Click here to see pictures of the items in our lost and found. We will be purging lost and found items more often so it’s important for children to keep close tabs on their belongings. It is also suggested that if possible, student items be labeled with the first and last name on it so that we can get it back to the student if it becomes lost.

  • Bus Driver Shortage: Please review this document that we shared on August 31 with all families to make you aware of how a bus driver shortage could impact our bus routes and how we will communicate this with you in the event we can not secure a driver for your child’s route.

  • Bus Riders Wear Masks: Any individual on a school bus (or any public transportation) is federally required to wear a mask. Please make sure your student has a mask before heading to the bus. Even if students are choosing not to wear a mask while at school, a mask must be worn on the bus at all times. Thank you.

  • Need a Bus Change or Addition? If you have any additions or changes needed for the busing of your child, please use this Bus Change or Addition Form.

  • Bus Drivers Needed: We are continuing to support First Student in their recruiting efforts. First Student provides $21/hour starting pay, a $1500 sign-on bonus, paid CDL training, 20-hours a week guaranteed with extra hours available, a child ride-along program, and no experience necessary. If you are interested in a career with First Student or know someone who may be, please pass along this opportunity. All hiring information for bus drivers is here.

ANY absence including leaving early and arriving late are reported on a google form. HERE is the link to report absences. It would be a good idea to bookmark this link for your convenience.
