Report Cards

Report cards will be available for families to view in Parent Portal on December 8th at 1:00 PM. Please be aware that teachers will not report on all the report card descriptors in the first trimester. The descriptors they do not report on will be gray or they will be left blank. This is not a mistake. Students have either not yet had formal instruction on all the skills they will learn this year or information on that indicator is incorporated into another indicator.

Our staff is looking forward to discussing your child’s progress at the upcoming conferences!

First Trimester Conferences

Our first trimester conferences will take place on Thursday, December 9th and Friday, December 10th. Parents/Guardians will have the opportunity to select an in person conference or a virtual conference. Fall conference sign ups are now available through specific teacher links. Click the button below to find your child's homeroom to sign up. The sign ups are completed through Sign Up Genius. If you have any difficulty filling in the spots that are listed, please contact your child(ren)'s teacher to make other arrangements. Your child's homeroom teacher will also communicate any classroom specific information, if needed.

Conference Dates Grades 1-6: December 9th and 10th

Kindergarten Conferences: December 9th, 10th, 13th and 14th

History Club

We had a great fall session of the 5th and 6th Grade History Club! Our final meeting is December 14th. A new session will begin in February, so watch the Tiger Times in January for registration information. We welcome new and returning members, but there is a limit to how many participants we can accommodate.

Early Dismissal Reminders

If you are picking up your child early from school, please be prepared to show ID in the main office. This is for the safety of all of our Titus students.

In addition, if you are planning to pick your child up prior to the end of the school day, the last time we will be able to accommodate early dismissal from the main office will be at 3pm, in order for everyone to prepare for dismissal. Anyone wishing to pick up their child after 3pm, should utilize the car line for dismissal.

The main office thanks you for your cooperation.

Paws for Pride

Congratulations to last week’s Paws for PRIDE winners: Keshav (Mrs Gillen), Alex (Mrs Yurick), Kamryn (Mrs Snyder), Keenan (Mrs Wallace), Anthony (Mrs Williamson), Max (Mrs Duffy), Mia (Mr Michener), Miss Spohn and Mrs Schorpp’s 4th grade class.

Keep up the great work, tigers and thank you for demonstrating our traits (Pride, Respect, Individual Responsibility, Determination, and Empathy)!

School Store

“The School Store is now open!” Our Grand Re-opening took place on Thursday, December 2nd . Students will once again be able to purchase any supplies that start to go missing around the end of the first trimester. The store is located in the gym and is staffed by our Student Advisory Council (SAC) reps. This year the school store will be open each Thursday morning before announcements.

Happy Shopping!

Winter Parties

We will be holding our winter classroom parties on Wednesday, December 22nd. Classroom teachers and/or classroom coordinators will communicate classroom specific information. Any parent that will be volunteering in a classroom must have all clearances completed.

All volunteers are asked to please park in the back parking lot to ease congestion in our main lot. Parent volunteers must check in with the main office when they arrive and must have the proper clearances on file. Any parent who will be picking up their child in the car line on December 22nd is asked to not arrive prior to 3pm due to the ending of afternoon classroom parties and the congestion in our parking lot.

Thank you in advance for your time on this day.

From the Nurse

The health office will be conducting vision screenings beginning 6th grade and working backwards through the grade levels. Vision screenings should be completed prior to the holiday break.

Any questions regarding vision screenings should be directed to Mrs. Donovan at jedonovan@cbsd.org or 267-893-4515.

Label, Label, Label

As the weather begins to get colder and more of our students are wearing jackets and other outside items, please make sure that all of your child's things are labeled. Our lost and found area in the cafeteria is growing with really nice sweatshirts, jackets, etc. By placing your child's name on all of their items, it will be much easier for us to return those items to the rightful owner.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Big picture

As parents, we have had to consider the impact of the last 18 month on our children. Steven Mintz, an historian at the University of Texas at Austin and author of “Huck’s Raft: A History of American Childhood,” believes that traumatic events can leave “invisible scars” that might shape the character of a generation. However, recent studies have indicated that this might take the form of being more focused about the future such as their place in the world and a stronger commitment to social issues. Although we may see a cautious approach from our children, they may also be energized and optimistic about what lies ahead. Students may find themselves exploring new career paths and ready to take action. This is where we may see the resiliency and empathy that many young people have when faced with struggles. Losing time in the past year can be seen as a negative but also as an opportunity to appreciate what is ahead. Take a moment and ask your daughter or son what the future looks like. Can they connect their thoughts to the career education activities they are working on this school year in Smart Futures and Naviance?

For comments or questions, please contact Ginny Barrett at vbarrett@cbsd.org.

Box Tops

Did you know that you can earn money for Titus just by buying groceries?

That’s right! You can help support the Titus Home and School Association by utilizing the Box Tops for Education program in any (or all) of the following ways!

1) Download the Box Tops for Education App and scan your receipt every time you shop in store.

2) Create an account at www.boxtops4education.com and forward your digital receipts (from online grocery shopping) to receipts@boxtops4education.com for credit.

3) Collect the older “clip” version of Box Tops (the ones you cut out that have an expiration date) and send them to school in a baggie labeled with your child’s teacher’s name. There is a collection box in the main office.

4) Don’t want to bother with the app or email? Send in your grocery receipts to school and we’ll take care of the scanning. Label the receipt with your child’s teacher’s name and have your child place it in the Box Tops collection bin in the main office. (All receipts must be received within 7 days of purchase to allow time for scanning before they expire.)

Every little bit helps! If you have any questions about the Box Tops program or need help with the app, contact Stephanie Wolff at srwolff2@verizon.net.
