SEPI gets on board with the Duke Student Initiative for Social Entrepreneurship (D-SISE)!

This past Wednesday, Jan. 30, SEPI reps attended the first Spring 2013 meeting of D-SISE, and is officially on the board of the Duke Student Initiative for Social Entrepreneurship (D-SISE).

So what?!? We have the opportunity to help craft a school-wide survey to gauge interests and needs for students interested in social entrepreneurship. These tools will help ensure that Sanford has empirical evidence to seek greater investment in Sanford's S.E. resources. Furthermore, we have the opportunity to spearhead a Sanford-specific proposal for resource needs, keeping in mind the University's capital campaign. The first steps will be undertaken by the Curriculum committee.

Sanford's 2013 career trip was another hit!

Sanford's 2013 career trip was another hit! We'll have full details soon, but just couldn't wait to share at least a few fun facts: 7 participants, 7 site visits, 2 days...and already one on-campus followup with one of our contacts! We logged more than a few miles of walking and found some pretty sweet places to eat along the way - but that's another story. :)

If any first years are interested in getting the ball rolling for next year, let us know. It's never too early to start! Wendy and Megan had a blast planning it, and would love to share the details with you.

The Duke Conference on Sustainable Business and Social Impact (SBSI) aims to educate and inspire students and Triangle-area professionals on rapidly evolving opportunities to create positive and sustainable change. The conference brings together over 40 speakers from the public, private and social sectors on 12 panels to discuss ways to use innovative business models, partnerships and ideas to break the mold and look “Beyond the Bottom Line” at new opportunities.
