Congrats to the Winning Walkers at Wayne and Franklin Road

The groups at Wayne and Franklin Road won the challenge for most indoor miles walked per full time employee group member during week one and week two of the challenge, respectively.

Congratulations to the Challenge Groups at Wayne and College. Both groups earned extra miles because a member of the group participated in an organized walk (such as a marathon, 5K, etc.).

Congratulations to the Challenge Groups at Glendale and Wayne. Both groups earned extra miles because some group members completed their walking at an IndyPL location other than their “home base.”

To find out how to start an Indoor Winter Walking Challenge team or report your group's mileage, please see the last edition of Wellness Update. We had 48 walkers the first week, but just 18 and a half the second week. Start walking - start today! It's not too late.

This week's winner of a $20 gift certificate to her choice of a pilates class, healthy grocery store, or massage studio of her choice is....Jill Wetnight!!!! (Sorry, Jill, that $20 is not going to cover the whole massage - but it helps!)

We hope that having a biweekly award will encourage YOU to start whenever – not feel as though you have already missed a chance by not signing up at the beginning.

Gift certificates will be awarded to one lucky participant every other week. The next prize drawings will be held on Feb. 19th, and March 4th and 18th.

It's Time for an IndyPL Healthy Cookbook!

Thank you to Caity Wither, Maureen Duncan, Elena McGrath, Lydia McGehee for kicking off the cookbook with some healthy submissions. Special thanks to Elena McGrath for sending along photos. And, yes, one of these folks actually submitted a HEALTHY cookie recipe. With chocolate chips.

You, too, are invited to submit recipes for the inaugural wellness cookbook. Are you known for healthy lunches? Got a favorite recipe you've played with to make for healthier eating? Please share!

Recipes must be submitted electronically. Please use this form.

Recipes may be “healthy hacks” of tried and true favorites or original healthy dishes.

Cookbook categories will be

  • Cooking for One
  • Cooking for Two
  • Cooking for Kids
  • Cooking for a Crowd

The Cookbook will be produced as a pdf and made available for downloading

Warm Up and Walk Outside - We'll Help Pay the Registration Fee

Send your receipt to Andy Schemm after completing the run or walk and you will be reimbursed $10. Our IndyPL Team currently has five members already! This race benefits Teacher’s Treasures and you get a donut and Sun King beer when you finish! What could be better? (Both donuts and beer are optional, by the way!)

Kathy Helmond has already signed up and created an IndyPL team. If you register, be sure to add yourself to the team, and let Kathy know.
