Mustang Messenger
2021-2022 School Year: Volume 1: Week 1 August 30, 2021
Be the Best YOU at Grandview!!!
Welcome Back!
The school year is ready to begin. The classrooms are look amazing and are set-up to ensure that your children will be safe and will be learning this school year. The halls are waxed and are ready for the flood of excitement that comes with the first day of school.
Despite saying that, I want you to know that this school year will not be perfect. We are still in the middle of a pandemic. I will try....and I will work hard to ensure as best of a product as possible for the Grandview families, but the policies and protocols associated with COVID are changing often and because of that, Grandview routines will change too. I will promise to give you current and timely information and I promise to lead this school year with the students safety and education #1 in my heart and in my mind, as we tackle this school year together. Please practice flexibility and patience with all of us and extend everyone grace. Though our staff was amazing last year and our protocols were very effective, therefore, I believe we are very prepared for whatever changes will be placed in our way this year.
Each Sunday (or Monday on holiday weekends), you will receive, through email, an electronic newsletter of our Mustang Messenger. Some information will remain all year, while other information will be included as necessary. We love to communicate and celebrate with our families and the community. This is a great way to stay informed. I attach archived newsletters on the Grandview website too.
I look forward to seeing and meeting your children, as well as, the parents this school year. I have an open door policy and I believe that through open communication, we will work as a team to create the best school year for your child. Do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have a question, comment, suggestion, or in need of a clarification.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Melissa Carruth, Ed.S
Welcome Back Picnic!!

School Hours
8:30-3:40. 1/2-day ends at 11:30.
School Doors open at 8:20 and the students will report to the hallway outside their classroom. At 8:25, the first bell rings and the 2nd bell rings at 8:30, when learning begins. Dismissal begins at 3:40.
Your child is marked tardy starting at 8:40 and students will not be released after 3:15 unless advance notice was given. Attendance is so important, especially with all the learning that was lost due to the pandemic. We need your children in school each and every day!!
Grandview Bus Routes
Below is the bus schedules for the start of the year. Bus 3 is combined with Botsford.
We are short drivers and the routes have been adjusted to provide the best service until we hire additional drivers. If you are looking for a job opportunity, the Clarenceville School district is looking for bus drivers.

A few reminders
In the Back of the school:
- Please form 3 lines to help with the flow of traffic and then alternate 1, 2, and 3.
- Please make sure your child exits your car on the side closest to the building. They should not walk around your car. This is for their safety.
- Also remember, you may not park in the back of the building and walk your children in. If you want to do that, then please go to the front of the school. Let’s all keep our kids safe!
In the Front of the school:
- This is only to be used for busses
- There is NO Parent Walk-up as visitors are NOT allowed in the building while we are under COVID restrictions
If your child is late:
- The doors in the back of the building will close at 8:35. If you arrive to school after that, you will have to report to the front of the building, be buzzed in and sign your child in.
- Tardies are tracked and could lead to truancy should excessive tardies become a trend.
Afternoon Drop Off
Our wonderful staff is working hard to help your children get into their cars safely. Please be patient as we all perfect routines. You can play a part by forming 3 lines in the back and hanging your sign with your children's name on it from last year. If you are new this year or to this process, we will be giving you a new sign the first week of school. Safety always wins!
There is NO PARENT WALK-UP.
Please note: Once construction is completed, there will be modifications to the arrival and dismissal procedures.
Late Drop off and Early Pick Up
Tardy is marked starting at 8:40.
Children will not be allowed an early dismissal from the office after 3:15 pm so we can ensure a calm and safe end to the day for all students. Please plan accordingly.
On-line Registration for ALL Grandview Students
The enrollment process is 100% on-line. To process the paperwork, you need to log into your child's parent portal site. The parent portal site can be accessed from the main page of the Clarenceville website by clicking on the blue on-line registration button or you can click the following link https://mistar.oakland.k12.mi.us/clarenceville/parentportal/. You will need your PIN number and password. If you do not know it, please contact the Grandview main office at 248-919-0404. For this process, you will be asked and prompted to go through the annual registration forms and approve the forms for this year, as prompted. This process has to be repeated each year.
Please Note: The documents for enrollment are very important. Please be sure to complete the Household Survey form as the responses to this form are tied to 31a funding.

Safety Survey and Checklist
In order for our students to be safe at school, we need your help. We need you to NOT send your child to school sick and with any COVID symptoms. Below is a few proactive measures that we are asking you to follow at home.
REQUIRED STUDENT SCREENING AT HOME
• Every parent/guardian must submit a COVID-19 School Health Screening Acknowledgment form prior to beginning in-person learning (see form attached). Form must be completed by September 17th. A copy of this is included in the mailer, as well as, linked to this section. A picture of the screener is below.
• Parents/guardians must screen daily for symptoms at home, prior to boarding the bus and arrival at school using the Staff and Student Screening Checklist. That checklist was sent home with your back to school mailing.

Grandview Sports
Welcome Back Grandview! I am so excited to see everyone again and to announce the return of Elementary Sports!
I am 100% committed to giving our Student Athletes a safe and fun year! Currently we are not allowed to have any events, games or practices, inside. Thankfully the weather is still warm. Plus, who doesn't prefer to play outside anyways.
Please send me a quick email so I can add you to our sports email list. This will help ensure you don't miss any news, registration forms, rules, code of conduct, schedules, etc...
We are still working out a few details and when everything is finalized I will share it with you via email, on our Grandview Sports Facebook page (@GrandviewSports) and on our sports website. https://staceyannusa.wixsite.com/grandviewsports
I am looking forward to a fantastic year! As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
