Land of READ-A-LOT
Maidens and Lords have been exploring elements of narrative nonfiction! We shared part of a book called Chasing the Moon to China!! Students noticed most of the nonfiction text features were absent. Students are exploring the concept of main idea, details, and the big picture of books! The "Big Idea" of why the author wrote this book is slowly being revealed!!
Missions in Math
The Kingdom transitioned into Unit 2, Multiplication. We analyzed a multiplication chart in order to visually see the patterns of multiplication. All students will begin fluency tests for this concept next week. Students also worked on review centers or making corrections to their Unit 1 Assessments.
Soaring in Science
Our Kingdoms moved into the story, Galya and Natasha's Rock Adventure. This story is setting the stage for the rock replications the students will create as material engineers!
WRITING that is Worthwhile
Our Maidens and Lords worked very hard on learning the idea of MEL-Con this week. This type of writing requires the students to read an article that has a set purpose question, choose a side to disagree or agree, and then compose a paragraph that supports their main idea with evidence and links! It is a very in depth skill that takes time and multiple practices in order to gain fluency!
