Read-A-Thon Week!
Encourage students to read as much as they can at home each night and document the number of pages/books/minutes read on their Read-A-Thon Goal Tracker Sheet and we will document at school as well!
We will also have special Read-A-Thon spirit day! See below to prepare:
Monday: Crazy for Reading Day (crazy hair, clothes, etc.) and Door Decorating Contest
Tuesday: Read my T-Shirt Day (wear your favorite school-appropriate t-shirt with words)
Wednesday: Dr. Seuss’ Birthday – Thing 1, Thing 2 Day (Twin Day) – Students find a buddy and dress alike. They don’t have to actually dress like Thing 1, Thing 2; they just wear matching clothes.
Thursday: Hats Off to Reading and Guest Readers Galore Day – Students can wear their favorite hat to school. And we would LOVE some special guest readers! (wink wink, hint, hint)
Friday: Story Character Day: Dress up as your favorite book character. We will have a character parade at 1:00. It’s helpful if students have the book with them so we know who they are. After the character parade, we will all stay in the hallway from 1:30-2:00 for a reading sit-in.
It's going to be an awesome week!!! :)
