VPS Home-School Connection
A Resource for Families, Week of June 1st
Dear Families,
Welcome to week 12! This week our reading features series books and our writing is focused on reviews.
Thank You! Thank you for coming to the curbside pick-up this past week to collect your child's belongings. It went so smoothly and we appreciate the opportunity to see you face-to-face! This is certainly not the way any of us would have wanted to wind down the school year, but we appreciate everyone's efforts to make it as positive as possible.
A Little Fun! We know the warmer weather can make it more difficult for children (and us!) to focus on distance learning. We continue to try and incorporate elements that will be engaging for them as we head into our last few weeks for the school year. We have also created a "Guess Who" type puzzle for your children using Bitmoji images! Please share the picture below with your child and see how many of our VPS team members they can identify! We will share the answers on the Landing Page next week :).
Annual School Budget Vote: If you are registered to vote, you should have received a ballot in the mail for every registered voter in your household last week. Please be sure to participate in the voting process. With the mail-in ballots, it is imperative you do not make any stray marks on your ballot and only put one ballot in each envelope. If there are stray marks on the ballot or more than one ballot in an envelope, the ballot(s) will not count. All ballots must be received at Victor Central Schools by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9th.
Progress Reports: Progress Reports for the third trimester will be sent by your child's teacher electronically on June 18th. Knowing every child and family had unique circumstances during the closure, all children K-6 will receive N/A on all standards and narrative comments will focus on the content that was included in distance learning.
Incoming Fourth Grade Students and Music Opportunities: The music teachers at Victor Intermediate School have been working to compile information about the music opportunities available to your children next year. Click HERE for general information about the music programs. Then, be sure to check out the following:

Personal Thoughts: Finally, I wanted to share a video with you that was shared with our VPS staff. It is one that has caused me to reflect a great deal on what has happened in our world and what I can learn from it. When a friend of mine was facing something really hard, I remember her saying she was not going to go into it without learning and growing from it. And I feel the same way about this pandemic. I want to look for the positive and grow from this experience.
As things around us begin to open up, I find myself re-evaluating how my family and I used to operate. I am thinking a lot about what is truly important for us and what we value. And I'm thinking about how things may be different for us, for the better, as we incorporate what we have learned into our new normal moving forward. I encourage you to do the same. What have you learned about yourself and your family in all of this? What are the positive things you will hold on to as we continue through this experience together?
With Great Appreciation,
Jen Check
