Dear Clifford Community...

We begin spring break on Monday, April 6th, and while we may not be able to go on vacations or experience new places to eat around town this break, we do get to wind down from online learning and teaching and take a break. I've asked all teachers in grades TK-8 to unplug from Google classrooms and to take a step away from lesson planning in order to have time to rest and rejuvenate. I've also asked teachers not to send homework/projects for students to do over the break. I would like our students to step away from screen time and play in the yard, read books, color, try and cook a new recipe for the family, and finally... forget about school next week. I do miss our school and seeing all of the students and the families, but I know we will overcome this and we'll be together again soon.

Please enjoy your family time. Be safe and stay well.

In community,

Jude Noyes

Clifford Playgrounds Closed

Just like our local parks and playgrounds have been closed to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the playground structures on all RCSD campuses are now off limits. Please be safe, and stay off of the structures.

8th Grade Students & Families...

I truly had hoped that all of the 8th grade students would be able to celebrate the end of year activities that we had planned and I am disappointed that they cannot have those experiences with their peers this year. Our 8th graders deserve to be recognized and celebrated for all of their individual accomplishments and for reaching this special milestone in their lives. Our middle school teachers and some 8th grade parents are working closely to create a virtual experience to celebrate this milestone. We are currently planning a virtual graduation and hope to have plans completed soon. We will share the details with families and students soon. Stay tuned.

GATE testing postponed...

The GATE program, housed at Clifford and Hoover schools, is available to all RCSD students through an assessment program. The student referral process typically takes place between February and March of every school year and testing takes place in April and May. The assessment has now been postponed for the fall for incoming students. Current GATE students do not need to be re-tested.

Parents whose child was scheduled to participate in testing will be notified of a new testing date this fall after school begins. Learn more about GATE here.

6-8 Academic Awards & Dolphin Awards

We will be honoring students for T2 academic awards and Dolphin awards soon. The certificates will be mailed home to families by end of April. Additionally, GPAs for T2 will be used to select & honor the school Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Some students will be nominated by their teachers for character awards (separate from Dolphin awards) nearer the end of the year and this is the time we will also announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian.
