Health Updates
Head Lice
At this time of the year, there can be an increased number of cases of head lice. As a preventative measure, we are sharing some information to all families.
COVID 19/Coronavirus District Directive
We would like to share with our families our preventative plan regarding COVID 19/ Coronavirus aligned to the Canton Public School's prevention plan.
As a preventative measure, all students and staff should wash their hands before lunch and at any other point of the day as needed. The district is recommending handwashing as a preventative measure, as we know from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that this is a method to prevent the spread of the virus. School bathrooms will be adequately supplied with soap and paper towels. Also, the custodial staff posted handwashing signs in restrooms and appropriate areas to promote handwashing; they will disinfect high traffic areas across our building outside of school hours.
Thank you,
Principal Lamour

It's Almost Luce Carnival Time!!! (REPOST)
Hello Luce friends and family,
The annual Luce Carnival will be on Saturday, March 21st from 10 am-2 pm and is in need of your help.
VOLUNTEERS: This day is not possible without volunteers! We are asking, if you can, for one adult member from each family to work a two-hour shift during the Carnival. It takes a lot of people to make this day successful for the school and the kids. Please visit our online sign up for a time that may fit your busy schedule. https://tinyurl.com/ucpjfnz
CAKE & CANDY DONATIONS: As we do each year, we are asking each Luce family, if they can, to donate two cakes and two candy bars. We can’t run the cake & candy walks without them! A donation box for full-size candy bars has been placed in the Luce Lobby.
· Cakes can be dropped off before/after school on 3/20 & the morning of our event 3/21.
· Candy bars can be dropped off at any time!!
World Language Club Update
On behalf of the World Language Department for the Canton Public Schools, I would like to thank you for your interest in our after school Global Language and Culture Clubs at the Luce, Hansen, and JFK Schools. We have received an overwhelming response and our programs at all schools are full.
All registrations received have been processed and families whose children are registered for our programs have received confirmation emails for the program, which starts this coming Thursday, March 12. Due to staffing, we cannot accept any additional registrations at this time. However, we are excited that there is such great interest in our elementary world language and culture programs. We look forward to offering additional programming in the future.
If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Heidi Olson

What is chronic absenteeism?
Chronic absenteeism is considered when a student is absent 18 or more days or one-tenth of the academic school year. At the Luce, our goal is that every child attends school every day.
Please see the attached attendance hand-out for ways to promote our attendance goal.
