2. Science Fair
The Louisiana Region I Science and Engineering Fair will be held at the Bossier Civic Center, 620 Benton Road, Bossier City, LA on March 1-3, 2018. The BPCC will need all paperwork by February 9, 2018. Please see the official memo from the Region I Science Fair Director, Dr. Elaine Cox.
3. Science Field Test
The Department will also host a series of webinars for teachers in January concerning the new Science Field Tests. Participants will learn information about the new science assessment vision, field test design, and item types. The time for each webinar is 3:30 - 4:00.

4. 5 Fast Facts about New Year's Eve
The earliest known New Year celebrations were in Mesopotamia and date back to 2000 BC.
1582 - The Gregorian calendar, which marks January 1 as the new year, is adopted by the Roman Catholic Church.
The first ball dropping celebration atop One Times Square was held on December 31, 1907. (Learn More)
The words auld lang syne mean "times gone by"
In 1942 and 1943 the ball lowering was suspended due to the wartime dimout. The crowds who still gathered in Times Square celebrated with a minute of silence followed by chimes ringing out from an amplifier truck parked at One Times Square.
