Monday Morning Message
Week of January 28, 2019
Team Eagle,
None the less, I tried to hit my restart button this week and close out a few tabs. Wind burn inducing hikes at Starky Park (pictured to the right), playing basketball, family movie night(s), etc. really helped. The great part is, I closed many of my tabs, completely forgot what they were, and I am quickly realizing that I didn't really need them anymore.
Have a great week and close a couple of tabs if you can!...although I fully recognize that I have opened a couple more for you with the notes below...sorry.
- Thank you to everyone who updated RtI plans, sent a copy home and gave Diane a copy. If you did not get that completed on Friday, please do so ASAP.
- Please be sure that you are communicating your Valentine's Party times to Jill and Karen over the next week and half. All times, snacks, and craft plans must be finalized by February 7.
- Note: We are postponing Hot Chocolate Day with the anticipation that the polar vortex will force us inside for recess starting on Tuesday and through much of the week. Feel free to update this change in your classroom communication as well: Tuesday, February 5 will be Hot Chocolate Day at recess sponsored by our PTO! They will be serving Swiss Miss brand milk chocolate hot cocoa mix and Meijer brand mini marshmallows. Please contact your child's teacher if you would prefer an alternate plan for this treat.
- PVE will be hosting their 2nd Annual International Night on January 30 from 6:00-8:00. A few of us are planning on stopping by to support PVE and get ideas for hosting our own event. Please let Diane know if you are interested!
- Friday will be Myra's last day with us in Kindy as we prepare for Callie's return! She has been such an asset to us these last couple of months by hitting the ground running in the classroom and contributing to our school team. Stop by and wish her well on her next journey. Truth be told, I am angling to find a way to keep her here at Eagle:)

Valentine's Day Parties: Spread love and kindness, not candy!
Blurb for your newsletters:
We look forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with our students at their classroom parties on Thursday, February 14th. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to emphasize the life skills of friendship and kindness with all of our students.
As you are preparing Valentine cards to share with classmates, please prepare cards void of candy. Regretfully, we will be unable to pass out the candy. We have many students with food sensitivities and allergies and as always, our main goal is to keep everyone safe.
If you elect to purchase cards that have contain something extra attached to them, please ensure they are inedible. This could include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Thank you for ensuring that all students can have a safe and fun celebration.
Future Think Tank Opportunities
- First, here is the link to the recorded Think Tank from before winter break. The sound is excellent!
- Each of the following dates will have two 30 minute time slots. I am happy to help you gain that 30 minutes back by covering a recess/lunch duty for you the week that you sign up.
- Talk with your team and sign up here!!!

MTSS (Multi Tiered Systems of Support) for Behavior
Diane will be our point person and first layer of support. As we move through the process, teachers will have the opportunity to bring the students in need to our MTSS Team for further collaboration, support, and brainstorming.
More information will be provided at our January Staff Share.
2019 Eagle Elementary Science and Engineering Fair
Now that forms have been turned in, we will starting planning the next steps and timeline for February 6 with students.
Classes will have an opportunity to view projects during school. We will also invite participants to display their projects on Wellness Night.
If students compete in the EE Science and Engineering Fair, students in 1st-4th grade could possibly advance to the Central Indiana Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Marion University in February! Take on the challenge to participate in a school-wide science and engineering competition and possibly a regional title!
