Media Center News!
We have had a very exciting 1st Quarter in the Media Center! Thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair by volunteering or making a purchase. We were able to add many new titles to our collection at LES. Our Mini Media Makerspace is up and running. We now have a 3-D printer in the media center. We have been using it to find solutions to problems we encounter such as headphone cords unraveling and not having a spot to hang our scanner on the SmartBoard.
Our Media Center catalog is available online on our Destiny webpage at elibrary.smcps.org. From Destiny students can search for books and resources available in our media center and follow hyperlinks to resources we use in class.
Here are just a few of our resources that you can use at home as well:

Staff Spotlight!
Mr. Combs, 4th Grade Teacher
Mr. Combs is our L.E.S. Staff Member of the month for November. Mr. Combs shares his thoughts on teaching.
"Teaching is a funny thing. On one day, tirelessly planned lessons can go nowhere, and another day, an unplanned situation leads to deep, meaningful growth. The days are never the same despite what the schedule says, and little unfolds the way you envisioned...a true adventure, all year long. It's one of the things I love about teaching the most. But, it's also one of the hardest parts about the position.
Being recognized by my peers is an honor. Success in this field is truly a function of the group's willingness to work toward a common goal. The ups and downs of a school year call for support from many colleagues. I am extremely lucky to be surrounded by such dedicated educators, and want to thank them for making my time here at Leonardtown Elementary so enjoyable and rewarding".
Thank you for all you do, Mr. Combs!
