Nebraska Alpha Delta Kappa
Sisters Aspiring to Inspire
June 2023
Happy summer Vacation! I hope it is filled with family, relaxation, and renewal.
Last I heard we have about 31 sisters Journeying Home to Kansas City this summer to the July 13-16, International Convention. That is a good number. You can still register.
In-Person Attendance, May 2 - June 15 is $350. In-Person Attendance, June 16 - July 12 is $400. Virtual attendance through July 13 is $200. Virtual attendance will be counted toward the conference attendance Pearl for your chapter. The Educational Symposium sessions cost $150 for in-person and $75 for virtual attendance. All Symposium sessions will be recorded and will be available on the International website following the close of the convention to members who registered for either the visual or in-person attendance. A donation of $20 to the Alpha Delta Kappa Foundation provides virtual access to the Evening of Entertainment.
The weather in Kanasa City is typically hot, around 89 degrees and humid. We are asked to wear heart apparel and to dress in professional attire. The Downtown Marriott is the historic hotel building that was visited by every President from Theodore Roosevelt to Ronald Reagan. There is self-parking with a member discount $9, bringing the cost to a $19 overnight rate. The June 2023 Kappan on pages 28-29 is filled with information on the Convention.
Cathy Kloch has arranged for a Thursday night Nebraska Sisters night out at the Char Bar for some good old Kansas city Barbecue. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Sisters Aspiring to Inspire,
Eileen Noll
Nebraska State President

The CHAR BAR
During International A∆K Convention we will be in the city, but on Thursday, July 13th, we will slide into relaxed and downhome Missouri. We are set up for 6:30, giving us time to get from the hotel. The Char Bar is 8 to 12 minutes from the hotel depending on the route you take, I will share the 3 most common with you. The meal will be family style. We all survived the buffets in Michigan so we should be fine with this. There is an 18% gratuity and a Missouri tax. I will let you know more as I know more. Before Convention I will send you emails about the meal, an explanation about drinks, and an invitation!
If you aren’t going to convention, you can be sure that we will be sharing what we learn and experience during our time there. Everyone please have a wonderful summer!

Happy summer vacation! I hope those who are still teaching can look back and see all the growth and positive change that you helped promote. For all of our sisterhood, I hope that you can see the same from the first year of this biennium. I am still waiting to learn how we are going to report this for our Chapter Needs Assessment successes, but I will let you know when I know more. Eileen and I have a Zoom meeting with our Regional and International Membership experts this week, so stay tuned!
Even though your whole chapter may not be meeting this summer, I'm sure there will be some work going on to prepare for the next year as your executive board meets to update the yearbook and plan interesting programs. This is also a great time to make sure your chapter directory has been updated and each member's professional position is correctly indicated. Look back at the May newsletter for more details or let me know if you need help. Enjoy your time together for whatever event you have planned for The Longest Day and make sure to include some potential members for this fun, informal event! What a great time to introduce them to the important contributions that we make as Alpha Delta Kappa members.
