Next Year (2022-2023) School Supply Changes
We have some exciting changes coming to school supplies for the 2022-2023 school year!
We will be implementing a new streamlined process which removes lists, kits and stores. All school supply items will be selected by our teachers and provided directly to our classrooms. We are making this change in an effort to: (1) provide high quality reusable materials for all of our students (2) minimize waste and therefore make our schools more environmentally friendly and (3) reduce overall supply costs by buying in bulk and getting exactly what our teachers need.
Both Lyon and Pleasant Ridge have been using this program for years with great success and we are very excited to be able to do this in our schools too.
How will this be paid for? Our PTA will be asking families to pay a school supply usage fee which will cover all of the supplies needed for the school year. Families will not be asked to provide additional classroom supplies. Please watch for additional information from the PTA soon!

Dear Henking and Hoffman Families,
We are so excited to welcome D34 ParentConnect back in person in a big and wonderful way, with Family Connect Night on Wednesday, May 11 from 6:00-7:30pm at Hoffman! Thank you to The Debra Gelfand Children’s Foundation for sponsoring this event.
Family Connect Night is an opportunity for children and adults to reconnect with old friends and make new social connections within their cluster. It’s a particularly great transition opportunity for second graders to attend this fun event at their new school.
There will be crafts, games and an animated short film and discussion facilitated by Beth Irwin, LPC, from Family Service Center. Boxed meals from North Branch will be provided.
Please RSVP to let us know how many members of your household will attend. Interpretation in Spanish, Mongolian and Korean will be offered (but please let us know in advance if you wish to have this service). We will follow up before the event to confirm your attendance and get your family’s dinner order. While the programming is planned for children in grades K-5, older and younger children are welcome. We don’t want anyone to miss the chance to connect!
2022/2023 Online Registration Is Now OPEN
Online registration is quick and easy -- visit District 34's online registration system any time. You also can verify residency (if applicable) and pay fees securely and conveniently online.
The District will offer an early bird discount of $50 for those who register by May 31, 2021. (Note that this discount does not apply to registration for full-day kindergarten; the deadline for the FDK early bird discount was March 31.)

It's time to plan for the 2022-23 school year!
We are now in the process of planning for the 2022-2023 school year. An important consideration in preparing for a successful year is the preparation of class lists. Our placement decisions involve team input and are completed with great care. As we finalize assignments, we prioritize many factors, including academic needs, behavior needs, peer relations, and balancing class size.
Our classroom teachers, fine arts team, student services team, and I will be working closely together to ensure that we have not overlooked any aspect of appropriate placement. If you have any additional special concerns as a parent about the placement of your child, please share these via email to ppuetz@glenview34.org by Friday, April 22, 2022. Please know that we consider this input seriously, but we cannot guarantee that all requests can be honored, some family requests may conflict with those of other families, or with groupings to meet student needs.
We kindly ask that parents NOT make special requests for teachers.
If your child will not be returning to Henking for the 2022-2023 school year because your family is moving or he/she will be enrolling in a private school, please let the office know as soon as possible via email to mzenzola@glenview34.org and abrito@glenview34.org.
Once classes have been formed, change is extremely difficult and typically will not occur. Now is the time for input. We deeply appreciate your help and support in this decision. Thank you!
