Creativity Challenge: Sculpting with Ice and Snow!
With today’s dusting of fresh snow, we are excited to announce that our next school wide Creativity Challenge will launched Friday, February 5th for all of our TK - Grade 8 students at Virtual Campus. Students are welcome to participate anytime, but our community Flipgrid for sharing our creations together will be open from Friday, February 5 - Friday, February 19. After February 19, the Flipgrid feed will be closed for posts and comments.
Please note the following:
Since each video and post is previewed and approved, it may take up to 48 hours for videos to load on the Flipgrid feed (depending on the number of posts at any given time).
All sculptures must be considered school appropriate. This includes no depictions containing violence, weapons, or anything that would make someone feel uncomfortable.
This time, students will explore the world of ice sculpting and then, give it a go on their own, with the support of some helpful tips from Camielee Peasley, one of our fabulous VC Art teachers. Another special thank you to VC art teacher Sam Hess Sterns for sharing her snow creations (which are included in the video). We look forward to seeing all of the creativity our VC students and families have to share! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Julie Rains: jrains@rochester.k12.mi.us

Story Voyage Podcast
Virtual Campus is launching a podcast series called Story Voyage! The premise of the podcast is to tell the story of how educators use innovation, community, creativity, and adventure. Virtual Campus began this year led by the forward thinking of our Founding Fathers Principal Jeff Frankowiak and Assistant Principal Bryan Lindstrom. The connection developed between the guys over the shared vision of building a virtual culture where creativity, adventure and innovation are cultivated blazed a path for what our school culture is growing into today.
Virtual Science Fair
The Virtual Campus is excited to be offering an exciting opportunity to challenge your child's scientific mind! TK-5th graders are invited to participate in our first Virtual Science Fair. The event runs through 2/26/21, and registration is now open on our website: https://sites.google.com/view/vc-virtual-science-fair-2021/home. If you would like to help coordinate this life changing event contact Karen Davies at karendavies03@gmail.com.
