Last Friday PE Teacher Mrs. Denise Steenstra and selected Schumacher students were invited to the McDonald's Play 60 Be the Change Celebration at the Chiefs Arrowhead Practice Facility. Schumacher students have participated in the Play 60 program all year and earned a coveted spot at the celebration. In addition to the celebration activities, Schumacher was given $250 to go towards health and wellness programs for students here at school.

Let's give a huge round of applause for Mrs. Steenstra and our active Schumacher students!

Schumacher's cafeteria staff managed by Mr. Stephen Leo were recognized by the Clay County Health Department with the 2014 Food Program Certificate of Recognition Award. The award recognizes outstanding efforts in the areas of sanitation and food safety and achieving excellent inspection results. The Schumacher cafeteria was one of only 93 establishments to receive this recognition.

Congrats to Mr. Leo and all his staff for their hard work!

Thursday, April 23rd is National Take Your Child to Work Day. LPS students who miss school to participate in this program have the opportunity to have this absence counted as a day of school so long as they turn in their permission form ahead of time. Parents, be on the look out for a permission slip that will come home with students very soon.

Dear SHARK parents,

We are quickly coming to the end of our school year and school staff have begun planning for the 2015-2016 school year. One major piece of planning for the next school year is class placement. As we begin that process I would like to remind you of a few things. As a school we do not accept personal request for teachers. We are simply unable to accommodate those requests. However if you feel that there is specific information that you would like us to consider, please submit your information in writing via email to me at cgabriel@liberty.k12.mo.us and I will be happy to consider your information as we finalize placement throughout the summer. Also if you know that your family is moving and you will NOT be with us for the 2015-16 school year please send an email to hcummings@liberty.k12.mo.us and include any pertinent information in your email. Thank you and we look forward to another great year in 2015-16, enjoy a safe and happy summer. See you in the fall!

Chris Gabriel

Attention 5th grade parents, We are collecting baby pictures for 5th grade recognition on May 12th. Please send in a baby picture of your 5th grader to your child's teacher. Be sure to put his or her name on the back. Please send in pictures no later than May 1st. All pictures will be returned after the ceremony

3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Parents,

MAP testing will take place during the following week(s):

  • 3rd Grade April 21 - April 22

  • 5th Grade April 29 - May 7

This is the first year the MAP test will be conducted online. Please make sure your child has a set of headphones or earbuds. If you will not be able to provide these please let your child’s classroom teacher know so arrangements can be made.

If you are interested in looking at a practice test, please visit the following website:

Please see the video below that will show you in more detail how to navigate the site to get to the practice tests.

We ask that you please help support your child by helping to make this a positive experience. Below are some ways that you can help:

  • Make sure that your child has plenty of rest.
  • Start each day with a healthy breakfast.
  • Make sure your child is in attendance and on time each day for testing.
  • Please encourage your child to do his/her best.
