What do they do?
Heifer distributes animals and provides agricultural training to poor communities. These communities must pledge to "pass the gift" by gifting offspring of the animals and passing knowledge to other needy communities.
History
- Began as Heifers relief in 1944.
- Founded by Ohio farmer Dan west
- relief worker during Spanish civil war
- distributed milk to children said "they didn't need a cup but needed a cow"
- He was approved by the department of agriculture and his first shipment of 17 cows was sent to Puerto Rico.
