To Our Parents and School Community ~
What an exciting time for learning, teaching, and celebrating at Sara Collins Elementary! As we are finishing our first nine weeks of school, we are are welcoming our students in all grades back to full time in person learning in a staggered manner to 5 days a week. We have reviewed and analyzed our students' achievement data and assessments to set goals to aim for this school year. Lastly, we are celebrating our 56th annual Freaky Friday which will wrap up virtually on Friday, October 30th! Please read through these Updates and reminders and let us know if you have any questions!

About Our School...
Sara Collins Elementary School is an urban school located in Greenville, South Carolina. With its school motto, "Our students are our world," it provides quality education to students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Sara Collins is an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school. The school has a long-standing tradition of excellence and volunteerism. The students, staff, and parents have been recognized for their achievements and accomplishments on local, state, and national levels. Did you know our school mascot is a Boykin Spaniel named Scout? The Boykin Spaniel is the state dog for South Carolina, too.

2nd graders CogAt and Iowa Testing
CogAT and Iowa Testing for 2nd Graders
Students in second grade will be administered the CogAT and Iowa assessments as part of South Carolina’s Grade 2 Gifted and Talented Assessment Program. SC State Board Regulation 43-220 requires districts to test all enrolled students (in-person and virtual attendance plans). Testing is conducted at the student’s enrolled elementary school.

*Due to the uncertainty of and impact surrounding COVID-19 affecting schools’ schedules, all dates are subject to change.

Contact tracing will begin immediately, and three types of notification will follow – Close Contact Notification, Not Close Contact Notification, and School-Wide Notification. Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
School meals will be available for all students in all school-opening scenarios, including the 100% eLearning option (Attendance Plan 0) and for those that register for the Virtual Program.
In order to qualify for free or reduced meals parents must complete a new free and reduced meal application for the current school year.
