A Message from our Principal...
Dear Jefferson Families,
We’ve had another exciting week of E-Learning at Jefferson School. Students and teachers are getting into a rhythm as they dive deeper into the curriculum. Both students and teachers are beginning to master some of the collaboration tools that our technology provides. We believe that collaboration is essential to learning. Among other things, it promotes higher levels of thinking, encourages problem solving and boosts student self esteem. This is true for both students and educators. In fact, this Wednesday, teachers spent the afternoon learning more about the tools available to them that promote online collaboration. We hope to see students collaborating more as we move through this semester.
We appreciate your feedback. We’d like to encourage you, if you have not already done so, to fill out the survey found below that asks for your feedback on how things might be going so far with remote learning. Your overall impressions and ideas are important for us to have. When we know more, we can make better decisions.
As always, please keep in touch. Your ideas and suggestions are very important to me.
Most sincerely,
Dr. Judy Floeter
Meet Jefferson's Spanish Resource Teachers!
Our resource teachers work in small groups with every dual language student in the school! The skills that we work on are based on student needs. Since our groups are small we can provide focused support for the various levels of Spanish and English speakers.
What do we do to support Dual students?
Co-teaching in Dual Language classrooms using various language learning strategies.
English as a Second Language (ESL) - Classes for beginning English speakers.
Spanish as a Second Language (SSL) - Classes for beginning Spanish speakers.
Small group work with:
Palabras a su paso - a Spanish word study program to help build students’ vocabulary knowledge for reading, writing, and communicating.
Reader’s Theater - Scripted plays that help develop reading comprehension, fluency and confidence in students.
Guided reading in Spanish
Bridging to connect what’s being learned in both English and Spanish classrooms.

Bee Mindful...
Dear Parents,
At school, we teach and practice what it looks like to be respectful, responsible and safe in all areas of the building so our students understand and know how to act. In this unique year of school and home being the same, your child might be very confused about what is expected of them as expectations at home may be very different from the expectations at school. It may be helpful to define what expectations look like at home during remote learning. There are many charts available online. Here’s an example to get you started. You can change the chart to make this work for your family. We are here to help you in any way.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Julie & Mr. Jason
