Blackbird and Shay Elementary

"mini" Festival of the Book

Even though Festival of the Book was canceled this year due to COVID, our elementary schools celebrated a “Mini-Festival of the Book Week” from November 9-13. The week was filled with the wonderful authors that were scheduled to visit and some incredible enrichment activities. We are very thankful to the many donors who purchased books for each of our students! Be sure to view the video!

HSPS is providing free lunch and breakfast to all students regardless of family income due to the extension of the National School Lunch Program waivers for all schools. The program is in effect for the entire 2020-21 school year.

The program is available to students who are enrolled in face-to-face or online learning or any community members 18 and under. Online students (and/or parents) or other non-school community members may come to the Middle School loop daily from 9:30-10:00 AM to receive lunches. If this timeframe is not convenient, please contact food service director Steve McDiarmid to make other arrangements.

PBIS

This week the positive behavior in school we focused on was accepting differences with each other and looking for the things we have in common instead of being divided by our differences.

Enjoy the video!

Thank you to all the students/staff who participate and a special SHOUT OUT to Mrs. Kloss for putting it all together every week!!

BRRRR!

Make sure your children are dressed for the weather! Children will be sent out to play unless temperatures/wind chill drop below zero! The schools use WeatherBug to check weather updates.

Also, please send in extra clothing for your child. Many children have accidents or get wet throughout the day and will need an extra set of clothing.
