Fourth opportunity he got from his hometown team
Lotte Giants reinforced left-handed bullpen pitcher Lim Joon-seop .
Lotte announced on Monday that it has recruited Lim Joon-seop along with signing a foreign player contract. Lim was released from SSG Landers after the end of this season, and Lotte grabbed his hand.
Lotte previously recruited Jin Hae-soo through a trade with the LG Twins and brought in Lim Joon-seop to reinforce the left-handed bullpen.
Lotte has lacked resources for left-handed bullpen in recent years. In many cases, players played without left-handed bullpen pitcher for the first team entry. During the course of this season, the team also acquired Shim Jae-min through trade with KT Wiz.
Lim joined the Kia Tigers in 2012 as the 15th player in the second round. He was traded to the Hanwha Eagles in mid-2015, and was released after the 2022 season. Lim joined the SSG Landers immediately after the test, and posted two losses and four-hold ERA of 5.79 in 41 games this year.
However, he was informed of his release after the end of the season, and is now in search of a new team for the first time in a year. Judging that Lim still has competitive edge in the first division, Lotte sought to recruit Lim. His overall performance is 12 wins, 26 losses and 10 holds with an ERA of 5.67 as he throws 368 and 1/3 innings in 200 games.
Lim Joon-seop was born in Yeoncho, Busan Middle School, Gaeseong High School and Kyungsung University in Busan. He started anew after wearing his fourth professional uniform in his hometown team.
Lotte said, "We judged that Lim Joon-seop's experience in mound management and stable control were competitive as left-handers."
In addition to the existing Kim Jin-wook and Shim Jae-min, Lotte transfused its experience into the left-handed bullpen by recruiting Jin Hae-soo and Lim Joon-seop in the offseason.
