MSE Winchester January Newsletter
Happy New Year MSE Family
From the desk of A. Pruitt
Welcome back!
I hope that each of you had a wonderful break and enjoyed special time with friends and family. Myself and the staff at MSE know time away from our everyday tasks can be remarkably restorative. I am confident that, as always, our scholars are returning and ready to work with a renewed enthusiasm and vigor.
We are now gearing up for Saturday School to get students prepared for our standardized tests in April, which is coming up soon! Please be on the lookout for the tutoring information.
Have an AMAZING January

A Message From Ms. Ward
Lead Testing Results
Under the State of Tennessee protocol listed in PUBLIC CHAPTER NO. 977, Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49 Chapter 2, Part 1 as amended; the statute details steps for the collection of water samples for each operating consumable, i.e., drinking water source in a school building. All samples are to be analyzed for total lead content.
The goal of this testing is to determine if drinking water in this school is below an action level of 15 parts per billion of total lead at all consumable water sources.
We had both campuses tested this fall, and the results show that all water sources tested are below the action level (15 parts per billion).Water sources tested included kitchen sinks, drinking fountains, and ice makers. There are no water sources that contain high amounts of lead.
We will test all water sources again in two years as SCS requires.

FAFSA Announcement
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an essential step for all high school seniors who anticipate graduating in May. It opens the door not only to scholarships and grants but to federally funded work-study programs, with financial support available for four-year and two-year colleges and for career schools where students can receive professional certifications. It is used in determining aid at both the federal and state levels, and is a resource for colleges in putting together financial packages for potential freshmen. For many of our students, FAFSA makes postsecondary options possible. All seniors are required to complete the FAFSA. Visit fafsa.ed.gov for more information or contact Miss Ward. Please schedule an appointment with Miss Ward rward@sememphis.org if you need assistance with completion.
