There will be a special election on March 2nd, 2021.
A special election will occur on March 2, 2021 that includes a bond referendum for building an Early Childhood Center within our school district. Those eligible to vote are registered voters that live within the Boone Community School District.
Bond referendum on the ballot:
“Shall the Board of Directors of the Boone Community School District in the County of Boone, State of Iowa, be authorized to contract indebtedness and issue General Obligation Bonds in an amount not to exceed $23,000,000 to provide funds to construct, furnish and equip a new elementary school building and to improve the site?”
This bond will NOT raise your taxes on the debt service levy.
The debt service levy on your taxes currently sits at $4.05 per $1,000. This bond will not raise the debt service levy.
The district is proposing building a new Early Childhood Center to meet the current and future needs of our students. A new Early Childhood Center would provide the following:
Improved learning environment for students
Safer environment for students via a more secure entrance and exits, improved accessibility and ADA compliant facilities
Safer pick up and drop off opportunities as the new site will have a parking lot and thru drop off and pick up lanes
Greater maintenance and professional development efficiencies
Allow for expanding populations and increased programming opportunities (i.e. daycare)
Greater flexibility in supporting district educational needs
Provide an additional gymnasium and spaces for community use such as, but not limited to: Special Olympics, AAU teams, Winter ball practice, fitness classes, open gyms

Questions?
A reminder from the nurses
Bring a water bottle to school
It’s so important to stay hydrated. Dehydration can cause headaches and make it hard to concentrate. Get fresh water every morning and refill your bottle after lunch.
Wear your mask correctly
Your mask should be covering your nose and mouth at all times. If your mask is falling down stop in to visit your nurse. She will help you adjust it to fit better or give you a new mask if you need one.
STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK
If you are not feeling well stay home. We understand that navigating through the list of CoronaVirus symptoms can be confusing. If you have questions, call your nurse. We are happy to help.
